Hugh Jass lol I agreed with you 🤣😂
1
@Neopunk2023 what did he say?
1
@sofipab5273 there were people injured, too, before the fatality. This slide never should've been open. RIP Caleb 🙏

@drewdoug2464 "only"???
1
@SpookyFow what? 🤣😂🤪

@cartoonraccoon2078 yes, scientists have found specific genes related to alcohol addiction. There's definitely a genetic predisposition. Matthew's book is excellent, and I highly recommend it.
1
@alexp3124 it takes a few weeks before symptoms appear
1
I read his book. I highly recommend it. (Or listen on audible. He narrated.) It's going to help lots of people understand addiction better.
1
Same!
1
@n.ll.8796 I still recommend his book. It's excellent. It's raw, and it will help people understand addiction better. It's sad, but hopeful. People do recover.
1
@My2CentsYall I agree with everything you just wrote, except the part about Matthew not being in recovery programs. He was in patient in therapy multiple times. His book is a detailed account of it. Of course recovery is one day at a time.. I've understood addiction for a long time. Being alone was horrible for him.
1
@MJ-kb2mp not where I live Northeast US. 25 to rent a car.
1
@TheGreatPumkin1 of course
1
@ronniemoore9289 ideally that age should be at least 21 too. But at least in the military, they are supervised and have training. Votes don't kill btw.
1
@chrisrodriguez388 I've got conservative friends and relatives. Most realize that no one wants to take away their 2A rights, but put in place some regulations to save lives. In the 80s people bitched when the seat belt laws started, til they saw how many lives were saved. Same thing with other safety measures for cars. Massachusetts has the least amount of gun fatalities in the contiguous US (because of gun regulations). Plenty of people in MA are conservative and hunt. Many collect guns. They just recognize we want safety.
1
@YouKnowN0thing I agree with you on punishment for breaking the law. Obviously. As someone with a relative who did rescue and recovery for 9/11, I am not discussing conspiracy theories. So let's just respectfully disagree.
1
@cdollar67 I don't know if you're familiar with it, but in the military, soldiers are trained and supervised. Regulation has always been a part of 2A. I'm not your buddy.
1
@Ag3nt-MC literally the worst attack on US soil, and people are still sick and dying from rescue and recovery efforts (breathing in all the toxic air at Ground Zero).
1
@ketleymvemba2505 it's actually way more than that number...so many first responders (firefighters, police, etc)have died since then, and so many are sick and dying from the toxins they breathed in during rescue and recovery. The total death count won't be known for years...
1
@ketleymvemba2505 you're welcome. I'm glad there are people like you who remember.
1
@jandm4ever716 what??? 1. Those kids are mostly still alive 2. Even if they weren't, 9/11 should be taught about

@My2CentsYall how do you know "he has never had a year clean"? Do you know him personally? Obviously, he relapsed quite a few times. In his book he openly stated that every day was a struggle. He also stated that when he was alone was the hardest part, which is true for many addicts. I agree with you excess money is a trigger, also. But when he was sober, whether it was a month, 10 months, 13 months...he definitely helped other people. That's why he turned his Malibu home into a treatment center. I wish he wasn't alone on October 28th 2023, and especially not alone in a hot tub. 54 is way too young to go.. The more people talk about their addiction, the less stigma surrounds it. His memoir was so detailed and he opened up in a way which will encourage others to seek help.
1
@My2CentsYall he had been clean for longer than a couple months smh I highly recommend his book. It's helping so many people understand addiction better. RIP Matthew 💔🙏
1
@aprilh8022 exactly
1
@Rugelacharugula who's "tsk-tsking"? I'm a huge fan of his, and I've recently read his book. He was very open about his addiction in order to educate others. His goal was to help people. He was a kind and generous man.
1
Meanwhile he's been on Broadway a couple of times: Sunday In the Park with George, and Little Shop of Horrors. He's an insanely versatile actor.
1
And God knows what else.. 😂❤
1
He is..he's been on Broadway a couple of times. Jake is so amazingly versatile.
1
@Rugelacharugula I didn't say it messes with your heart rate (though, if you're having a hallucination which is extreme, I guarantee your heart rate will go up). I know that ketamine in a highly supervised medical setting has helped some people with depression. And it's also used during some surgeries. My point is it has to be monitored very closely, because it is possible to OD.
1
@Rugelacharugula no one should be in a hot tub alone, if they have a history of heart disease or blood pressure problems. And now we know he was being treated with ketamine infusions, too. 😢 RIP Matthew

@blackbeansmatter1280 99% survival is incorrect. Please cite your source.
1
@Saulll coronavirus is completely different than the flu. But since you mentioned flu, different strains appear and the flu shot changes yearly. This is why it's become the norm to get an annual flu shot. It saves lives.
1
@danah488 ok, but what's your point? Every medication and vaccine has a small amount of potential side effects. The benefits of this vaccine greatly outweigh the risk of getting COVID-19.
1
@Saulll I simply corrected you: coronavirus and flu aren't the same. Calm down 😂
1
@Saulll yes, they are both viruses.
1
@shush03, yes, compassion!!
1
Great news!!
1
Good to see someone mention food addiction. Eating disorders are substance abuse, too, with food being the substance. And they're brutal, and sometimes fatal. I'm glad you're getting help. I wish you the best 😊
