@My2CentsYall yeah, I understand your point. It breaks my heart it didn't end differently for Matthew. And for Carrie too..

Wow, the 1 year anniversary. So sad. RIP Matthew

Good to see someone mention food addiction. Eating disorders are substance abuse, too, with food being the substance. And they're brutal, and sometimes fatal. I'm glad you're getting help. I wish you the best 😊

@Rugelacharugula no one should be in a hot tub alone, if they have a history of heart disease or blood pressure problems. And now we know he was being treated with ketamine infusions, too. 😢 RIP Matthew

@Rugelacharugula I didn't say it messes with your heart rate (though, if you're having a hallucination which is extreme, I guarantee your heart rate will go up). I know that ketamine in a highly supervised medical setting has helped some people with depression. And it's also used during some surgeries. My point is it has to be monitored very closely, because it is possible to OD.

@Rugelacharugula who's "tsk-tsking"? I'm a huge fan of his, and I've recently read his book. He was very open about his addiction in order to educate others. His goal was to help people. He was a kind and generous man.

@My2CentsYall he had been clean for longer than a couple months smh I highly recommend his book. It's helping so many people understand addiction better. RIP Matthew 💔🙏

@My2CentsYall how do you know "he has never had a year clean"? Do you know him personally? Obviously, he relapsed quite a few times. In his book he openly stated that every day was a struggle. He also stated that when he was alone was the hardest part, which is true for many addicts. I agree with you excess money is a trigger, also. But when he was sober, whether it was a month, 10 months, 13 months...he definitely helped other people. That's why he turned his Malibu home into a treatment center. I wish he wasn't alone on October 28th 2023, and especially not alone in a hot tub. 54 is way too young to go.. The more people talk about their addiction, the less stigma surrounds it. His memoir was so detailed and he opened up in a way which will encourage others to seek help.

@My2CentsYall I agree with everything you just wrote, except the part about Matthew not being in recovery programs. He was in patient in therapy multiple times. His book is a detailed account of it. Of course recovery is one day at a time.. I've understood addiction for a long time. Being alone was horrible for him.

@n.ll.8796 I still recommend his book. It's excellent. It's raw, and it will help people understand addiction better. It's sad, but hopeful. People do recover.
