  1. It's because of connections. A poor person has to go into a more guaranteed high paying degree, because they can't afford to be poor and in student debt. They likely have no connections, paying a higher interest rate on the loans to begin. Worst of all if they fail, they end up right back in the cycle of poverty, the very thing they went to college to escape. Where as a rich person can afford to get a liberal arts degree and work in a place that actually pays at least decently. Worst case scenario, they likely have their student debt paid off by their parents. Either case much less risky.

  2. You're right it is a good starting point. But like the video says you also need to evaluate which majors will likely guranteee a solid job, access the risk vs. reward, and choose accordingly. And like the video says, if you can afford those risk depending on the wealth class you come from. Not much risk if your parents pay your student loans. But if you're the average guy you are literally making an investment, you screw this up and it's game over.
