  1. Permitting chronic homlessness to exist in one of the wealthiest countries on earth is a political choice, not some great unsolvable mystery. Its not about lack of resources, we know that governments would actually SAVE MONEY by eliminating homelessness. But the capitalist political parties (Liberals, Conservatives and yes the NDP) won't end homeless because it is one of the sticks that keeps capitalism moving. Every visible homeless person is a cautionary tale, the message is "take whatever crappy job you can, pay whatever exorbitant rent you can, and don't complain or you'll end up on the street.
