  1. Thank the Gods Bernie Sanders will never be POTUS. "Real" freedom is not using State violence to steal from one group of people and give to another. That's tyranny and always ends with a massive number of poor starving to death while few lying kleptocratic Rulers liv like kings by convincing the poor they need THEM as their rulers to protect their "Real" freedoms and from the "Evil Capitalistic West". Bernie dreams of being Dear Leader - thank the Gods that will never happen.

  2. Fritz Karl No one who is coerced by threat of violence to 'contribute' to society is free. Any such 'society' will be very violent and poor. For examples see Communist North Korea, East Germany and many Public welfare ghettos in the USA. These are all poor violent horrid places to live. This is what people like Bernie Sanders want to do to the entire United States.  I'm sure you'd see the difference between someone politely asking you for a donation and contribution to charity for the betterment of the poor and that same someone pointing a gun in your face and forcing you to hand over your wallet and if you resisted beating it out of you. People like Bernie wouldn't soil his hands beating the money out of you - he's send a thug in a uniform to do it. This IS the sort of "society' Bernie wants.  Note: I have no problem 'contributing' to society freely and I have no problem paying my own way. Funnily, I was shocked at how many so-called Progressive friends of mine give NOTHING at all in donations each month - some give nothing at all each year. Nothing at all. Yet they're their first to crap on about the 'good of society'. I've come to understand the reason why they support using the State to force everyone to 'contribute' - it's because they assume everyone is as stingy as they are. When I lived in a small trailer on $25 a week with my mother, I used to volunteer to help build nicer homes than I lived in for other homeless people. If given freedom, you'll find it brings the best out in people and those that take advantage are quickly sidelined. This been my experience and I've lived in 5 countries. The freer people are - the better those people are as a 'society'.

  3. Fritz Karl Income tax IS used to make the rich richer. We spent $600 billion in 2015 on the phony wars alone. Think of the trillions used to bail out the richest 0.1% in 2008. Only a tiny amount goes towards helping the poor or medicine or research.  The solution is currency competition as has been outlined by others. Allow the Treasury to print as much USD as it needs to function and then leave it up to people in society to choose to use that currency voluntarily. If people really want to support the way the government spends money, then they'll continue to use USD. If not, they'll use something else.

  4. Fritz Karl You said Utopia not me (strawman). The argument violence is needed was used to maintain slavery for centuries. To people back in the 1700s the idea of a slave free society was laughed at as talk of 'utopia'. All successful societies had kings, queens and slavery or serfdom.  You're on the wrong side of history.

The In the mid 1800s the USA had no central bank, a very small federal government, no income tax, almost none of the federal departments, and regional banks created their own currencies - and the US is primarily where the second industrial revolution started, leading to the post-modern age we enjoy today. Not only are you wrong historically, but you're also wrong fundamentally - something not having occurred historically most certainly does NOT mean it will not occur in the future. If that were the case nothing would ever change, and in the real world things are always changing. Again, you're making the slave-owners argument. This is EXACTLY what they argued when they argued for slavery. Not only that, but your argument was also used AGAINST democracy - it was shown to have failed historically and so everyone assumed it was fail again.  You are on the wrong side of history as well as on the wrong side of morality.

  7. Fritz Karl Many States were abolishing property taxes in the 1850s and none had an income tax on hourly labor. That aside, your argument is non sequitur. Just because a form of society did not exist in the past exactly as it does today, does not mean it cannot exist. You cannot and do not know what can or can not 'work' (Problem of Induction). Essentially you're using confirmation biases towards your own idea of normal to cherry pick observations (many faulty), and not creating an argument (deductive or inductive) but simply to comfort yourself. Well, you're in luck, the State isn't getting smaller, it's going to get bigger. So, if you're really good at doing standardized testing (I'm quite good at these personally) then you'll do well. If not, then maybe not. Either way, we are getting more Statism, not less, much much more. Which is too bad, but that's life. That whole rise and fall of nations thing.
