Geee, and the Chinese also never developed individual liberty, human rights, logic (deduction) or democracy. And they're prone towards Communism which turned their society into a 100 year sinkhole. Hey, maybe if we're lucky WE can also turn our society into a progressive socialist, fascistic sinkhole... ah, but I repeat myself.

***** Japan, Korea and above all China all had thriving private trade networks (silk road) in the past. Voluntary private trade requires working efficiently together which creates a lot of wealth. This complex network of trade can be viewed as a 'collectivist' culture, but it's NOT. It's a complex free-trade culture. One we used to have. Progressive Socialists don't seem to get this. To them, a few rich people sit on mount high and if only we 'redistributed' their 'ill gotten gains' then everyone will be 'equally' rich. This is just pie-in-the-sky airy-fairy magic thinking. All that happens is people become poorer. And this IS happening in the USA and happened to China and the USSR when they tried it. Magic thinking doesn't work. That said, I do agree that different forms of food production, natural resources and geography do influence the types of languages that develop and this in turn effects the way people think. I was unfair to the Chinese when I said they didn't discover Deduction. They actually started to. It was snuffed out by an Emperor who say Logic as an affront to Legalism. This then led to the first book burning in history, and this that act, Chinese never developed Logic and lost what little they had started to develop. Who knows how this effected their historical development?
