  1. Let me see if I have this correct. BIG Corporations (Banks, GM, FANNIE MAE, etc...) used the GOVERNMENT to stick the middle class with literally TRILLIONS of dollars worth of debt, not only bailing out the richest 0.1% (many of whom would have went bankrupt during the GFC) but sticking us in a 10 year depression AND Thom has the gall to suggest fiscally conservative people hate big government because it PREVENTS Big Corporations (that it just bailed out) from trampling on the working person. Are you f*cking insane??? Jesus H Christ do these Repressive Socialists have shit in their heads upside down. We don't care about your sexual attraction, your religion, your drug use, or anything else about you - STOP STEALING money from the middle class and giving it to the rich. Simple enough? If you so-called "Progressives" would stop bailing out GM and other BIG Corporations than maybe, just maybe we'd stop being trampled on.

  2. ahabthewhaler Republicans are no different than Democrats. They're both 'Progressive' socialists. They only differ on what they think is "Progress". They both LOVE lots of government. They'd both have bailed out the crony banks. They both support expanding government (see NSA). They both support never ending wars. If you think deregulation led to the GFC you've been fooled. Firstly, the financial system in the USA (and elsewhere) is and has been one of most regulated markets in the world. It's neck and neck with medicine and hard to say exactly which has the most regulations. And, of course, both hyper-regulated unfree-markets of finance and medicine are a total mess. Secondly, Clinton 'deregulated' finance (although, as I said, this is NOT what caused the GFC - and finance remains one of the most regulated markets in the world).  Do you have any evidence that "Republicans" don't "want any regulations on financial markets"? This sounds rather absurd.  Of course, I personally would love no regulations on any markets outside of those derived by common law and contract laws. If you think some clueless bureaucrat in Washington can effectively regulate their way out of a wet paper-bag, well, I have news for you - they can't. Most are totally incompetent and couldn't give two craps about anything other than making more money through ticking the right boxes to get promoted into better paid, cushier jobs. If we had stuck with common law and contract law we'd have developed the sort of finance that doesn't exist only to serve the richest 0.1%. Oh well, hope you like being poorer. Because the government is going to be bailing out/transferring wealth to the Too Rich To Jail for decades to come. This IS going to happen and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
