You did make a good argument why we need to NOT have socialized medicine, that way 'we' are not paying for anyone's healthcare - the individual is, and can negotiate their smoking habit with their insurance provider. Not to mention you think the majority can enforce a moral law? Jesus, what are you - Taliban? What next? We ban meat? How about we ban soda? And candy. And anything Thom thinks is going to cause "The Public" medical bill to raise. Yes, anyone and everyone must be monitored and the Police State expanded to control and corral all the Sheeple into nice like boxes the Thom's of society can keep an eye on - For the "Good" of the public. Note: I'm convinced Thom just does this, on purpose, for the views. He's leaning farther and father Left into crazy land. Sadly, the majority of the idiots would happily follow him out there.
