Hong Kong doesn’t deserve independence, neither will it have any benefits. I oppose the extradition bill, but using this protest as an excuse for Hong Kong independence is just delusional.

Well, it’s about the extradition law. This means that Hong Kong people can be sent to the Mainland to stand trial. Many Hong Kongers are scared of this because they’re afraid they’ll have an unfair trial or even face the death penalty (which is legal in China). Nothing against Mainlanders.

But think about it, democracy only splits people apart. Think about what that would do to a country as large as China. Hong Kong should preferably retain democracy due to its special status and culture, but China should remain as it is.

Yvan Lee I guess it has its benefits. But knowing China, I don’t think this will happen for a while.

Hong Kong people don’t get to decide. But alright.

Typical Chinese arguing about who is “better”. Why can’t we all just get along?

The extradition bill means that people from Hong Kong can be sent to the Mainland to stand trial. People are afraid of the death penalty (which is legal in China) and the fact that they fear that the trial will be unfair.

Ytter Sun Oh thanks for clearing that up, but then why would Hong Kongers care about Mainlanders? Especially against those who have actually committed crime. It doesn’t even affect them in any way.

How is this sponsored by the CIA? I do believe a small minority of people are being paid to participate in these protests, though.

Last time I checked, it was closer to 1 million? But yeah, it’s a huge number.

We don’t have any evidence, but it IS possible.

Hong Kong doesn’t deserve independence no matter how much the Hong Kong people want it.

Hey, it’s not Carrie Lam’s decision, she is merely a puppet for the CCP and is just following orders. If you want to vent your anger, bring it out on the CCP, not Carrie Lam.

What New Territories lease are you talking about? I’m interested.

I don’t think the extradition law would be used like that...too risky, not worth it, and too many people involved...but it is possible.
