Wait out the protest, same tactic as the rioters/protestors. “If only the government listened to us sooner, none of this would’ve happened!” If a man has a gun to your head asking you for all your money, you refuse, then he shoots you, can the guy with the gun say: “If only the guy I was mugging listened to me, he wouldn’t have died!” See? Doesn’t sound so nice when your reasoning doesn’t fit your narrative. Well, there was originally only one demand, and that was the official withdrawal of the extradition bill. Now that has happened, did it calm down the protests or stop the riots? Even by a little bit? No. So what makes you think complying with all 5 demands will do anything? But, to be fair, I agree with the investigation of police “brutality”. Whether they’re innocent or guilty, it must be proven in court. The resignation of Carrie Lam demand is also fine, I guess, Hong Kong is a democracy after all. For now at least. As for the release of the rioters and the retraction of the riot characterisation? Over my dead body.
