@Drabbo I'm not talking about global warming, I'm talking about climate change, though integrally linked, they aren't the same thing.
Global warming is only one aspect of climate change. As for weather manipulation, you are correct, it's been tried for decades, without success. As someone who grew up on a farm, I understand the desire to control the weather, but to quote Mark Twain, "Everyone complains about the weather, no one does anything about it".
Truth is, weather and climate are such complex systems it's impossible to control. That's exactly why we have climate change, no one thought that humans could actually have an effect on our climate.
Personally, I think we're far past the tipping point, I don't believe that we can do more than stop accelerating it.
If we stopped using fossil fuels overnight, it would slow but not stop climate change.
We're fooked

@skyhiker9669 actually, I'm Chahta
I can't imagine a reason to sink that ship for a variety of reasons, first there's killing people, if that ship is sunk it's quite likely that someone, just doing his job, will be killed. Second, it would ratchet up tensions in an already tense state that could be used to start another illegal war that would result in another quagmire war that the MIC would use for decades to keep us in, no matter how many civilian or US military deaths it causes (as long as they make a buck, they're thrilled) . Three, empires always end when they overextend themselves and it's always ugly when they crash, if the government here wants to keep the empire rolling, it can't go into any new wars.

@analogdistortion Between August 2014 and November 2014, there were 14 kids shot to death by police, of those killed, 9 were black, 2 were Hispanics. That's not even a whole year, and doesn't include beatings, strangulations, or using vehicles as weapons, cause yeah, that happens too.
It has been reported on, caught on security cameras, body cams and cell phones. I can't help it if you weren't paying attention.

@ilresole603 They wouldn't have a chance in hell in previous years, because the law wouldn't allow victims of child sexual abuse to go to court. That changed recently, because of the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic church. Victims didn't come forward for years after the statute expired and so had no recourse to seek justice for themselves. That law was changed to allow them to sue their abusers decades after the abuse occurred, because the criminal laws do not apply after the statute of limitations has passed (usually 15 years, but it varies state to state). Also, we're not talking about "two old men", we're talking about a woman and a man, and we're also talking about the sexual exploitation of children, because they weren't old when the abuse occurred.
It can only be a "matter of money" at this point, because of the laws involved, so that's a moot point.

@strawpiglet They're working incredibly hard to get you to choose between which corporate interests are being served, Raytheon or Lockheed, Exxon or Shell, Goldman Sacs or Citigroup, United Health or Aetna
You don't get to vote for the people, against corporations, against war, against genocide, ecocide, for education, living wages, healthcare, etc
You're voting for whose kids get cushy no show jobs, sitting on the boards of various think tanks, corporations and NGOs
Which mafia family gets to run things
you never get to vote against the mafia

@twdll No the US is NOT "working on it's issues" nor is it "working on a better version of itself"
The people who are coming here are for the most part, trying to get away from violence and economic hardships that our foreign policy has inflicted on their home countries. That's what imperialism does. Charles Manson never poisoned my drinking water, neither did he tear gas my relatives for complaining about it.
Manson never bombed other countries, turning their children into a red mist, for the resources. He never denied us healthcare, education, living wages or forced us to live on a planet that's on fire.
Until we address the imperialism, militarism, racism, ecocide and genocide that the US perpetuates on a daily basis, then there is no freedom within it's borders.
