those arrangements are usually made by the parties themselves. The police say they want to separate the people involved, and give the people options. The choice of who went where was entirely up to them. There's also the fact that the van was registered to HER

and all that would do is wreck any chance of a case against the boyfriend, and put the father in prison there's nothing good that would come of it

@jponz85 No one should EVER talk to the cops, about ANYTHING! There's too many innocent people in prison because they talked to police
5
@jeanlawley6483 opinions without facts to back them up don't do anyone any good. It's just rumor and gossip. The truth is, no one knows what happened to that girl, if anything happened to her at all. There's people in this comment section talking about torturing the boyfriend, without even realizing that torture doesn't do any good, it only gets someone to say what they think the torturer wants to hear. This entire lynch mob mentality is evil.

@DeleteExistence it's all good

arrested for what? That is the problem, they can't arrest until they can prove something. They can't compel you to give evidence against yourself, they can't force you to talk to the police, they can't force you to take a lie detector test. The only thing they can do is impound the van, cell phones etc and look for evidence of what happened, and they couldn't do that much until she'd been reported missing and he was already at his mother's house by then.

except you can't force a lie detector test, they have to be voluntary. Courts can't compel a lie detector test because they can't be used in court
3
advocating torture is not a good look
3
oh hon, everyone looks like a complete knob at that age
3
why?
3
ok, prove it
3
@sjbeynon88 I sorely hope we do, and I sincerely hope that she'll be found and be ok. The scenarios of all the things that could have happened are vast.
2
why?
2
@BeyondExtinctionLove or someone else did, that said, we are talking about wilderness areas where phones are not common, and cell service is sketchy at best. It's also possible that he took off in a huff, with her cell phone inside the van, and she was cat chow, or bear food. Don't let the paved roads fool you, that's real wilderness. I know, I used to live there.
2
it's impounded since this is a missing person case no need to hide it now
2
@jeanlawley6483 investigations get started with facts, so don't be ignorant. By the way, the facts I'm "expressing" can all be proven. I haven't given an opinion in this comment section yet. Unless of course you don't think that torture is evil, then you are a sociopath that is beyond help, and that's a fact not an opinion
1
who?
1
@jeanlawley6483 America was "created" on genocide, slightly different than "lynch mob" and Chauvin was guilty
1
or a bear, cougar or coyote ate her
1
@jeanlawley6483 what a horrid lie!
1
@BeyondExtinctionLove that's a common misconception. No one in their right mind, especially if they don't know anything, should talk to the police. There's too many innocent people in prison because they talked to the cops.
1
@ironbowtie only a fool would cooperate with the police. Especially now since this missing person case has turned into a red ball. The police don't care about the girl, her family, or anything other than making a case.
1
@BeyondExtinctionLove guilty of what? Going home without his girlfriend? What if SHE left HIM? Would he still be under some obligation to look for her?
1
what evidence are they tampering with? The van was impounded, the forensics team is going over it. That's the end of their obligation
1
why?
1
@M4r1a_Schn33 there's a difference between a BF and GF there's always the possibility that the GF is the one who split, at that point, she is no longer GF and is just another ex BF is for life
1
Why? He's under no obligation to talk to them about anything
1
@rhiannonsmith5727 never had, never will. Torture only gets the victim to say what they think the torturer wants to hear. Didn't you learn anything from George Bush?
1
@ironbowtie there's nothing wrong with being "uncooperative' with cops, or even your ex's family. One thing is sure, the relationship ended.
1
@gorgeousgeorge7960 oh they found a body already?
1
you should tell the police then! Apparently since you're psychic you can even show them where the body is
1
@sjbeynon88 It's entirely possible that she isn't his "significant other" anymore too. Is everyone under automatic obligation to find their ex if they just walk off? Not a single soul in this comment section has any facts about what actually happened. If my "significant other" walked off, and stopped calling her family, would I somehow be obliged to deal with them? A lack of interest is not proof of anything other than a relationship ending, and under no circumstance should anyone ever talk to the cops about anything. You lock your lips and wait for the lawyer to do the talking.

FBI impounded it
