Italy isn't Christian in its roots . Romans were killed to make way for Christianity after fall of Roman Empire.
Romans,Greeks,Norses were real European faiths.
Christianity came from Middle East.
As Pope said in his 1999 Delhi Speech:
1st Millenium,Cross was spread in Europe.
2nd Millenium, Cross was spread in Americas, Australia, Africa(Islam more now than Christianity but majorly in Northern Africa)
3rd Millenium Cross will be spread in Asia(China has 200 Millions Christians in a Survey by Pew, In India, Andhra surely has 25% Christians if not less,2/8 NE states are absolute Christian: Nagaland,Mizoram for sure,3/8 with good proportion: Meghalaya, Manipur,Arunachal: Only Assam,Sikkim,Tripura have less and also, These 3 have little different culture from Rest of NE), then Kerala-Goa had Christianity for longest time, TN-Punjab still coming up, Jharkhand has Islamists vs Christians for Tribals.
Interestingly,if it was all about Poverty , they have failed in Bihar, UP.
