@Surya Vatsalya Not Congress..It was created by Socialists of Janta Dal who did it who BJP and Left supported to oppose Congress. Yadavs,Jats,Gujaars were never a vote bank of Congress. Congress vote bank prior to Mandir-Mandal politics in 90s was Brahmins-Upper Caste-Muslim- Dalits-Adivasis.. OBCs feeled left out and went with other parties.

Sid Well...Most of routes have now been stopped for now as Railways is getting privatised and You can't travel for less than 200 kms Currently...btw, I hate Lalu but he was efficient as Railway Minister..Yes the worst thing was that Be it Nitish,Lalu,Mamata,etc..never raised Rail fares for the poorest even in few Paisa..But then Modi Govt raised that frequently which was needed but then Railway is Lifeline..Hope people are able to survive as Many can't afford buses or road travel as it's much costlier than railways and definitely not Airways

@priyansuchoudhury0246 Railways does make profit...And nobody is complaining about it? It's easy to say sitting in cities..I myself am from city. But ask those migrant labourers who had to walk for hundreds of Kms.

@adee6467 When did I say that .Why are you giving Two extremes...I am heavily against policies of Lalu,Mamata,etc. And AC-3Tier to all classes price fares are raised.. It was majorly the Local Passenger trains that always have big crowd whose prices were not raised...They were immediately rised after Modi came to power in 2014 which is good. Electrification of rail route is important and Private sector should be included in it but why to stop trains and fares should be kept genuine. Many Indians still survive on less than 10k in a family of 5.

@adee6467 Govt should disinvest PSUs and PSBs...but Railways isn't a Company..I dont know any country where the whole railway system is privatised.
