  3. The Toxic Insecurity of Cricket fans for any other sport especially in India-Pakistan is quite amazing. Maybe, they know this barely popular sport outside their subcontinent with its even shortest format(T20) being thrice as long as a Hockey Match(60 mins) or twice as long as a Football match(90 mins) with so many pauses can be taken over by any other sport any day if not for constantly shoved down people's throats via media, cinema(especially Bollywood), broadcasters(I know so many who want to watch other sports but it's barely broadcasted). The main sports channels can be doing analysis of IPL, CWC which are months away and not even 2 hour coverage on their main channel to an upcoming major tournament. Same case is with Media who will cover other sports only at time of Olympics, Asiad, CWG and then give lectures on how sports organizations are not doing enough for the country when the truth is that they are doing much more than what you guys do in name of "covering sports" as " Sports Journalists": Barely covering any other World Championships, Asian Championships, Junior Championships. This also has led to young cricketers getting too much money which they many a times cannot handle and other sportspersons not having money to even fulfill their training and living needs. I know the market thing: more a revenue sport generates, the more it has larger market and more it's players(from Senior to Junior level) are played. But when women cricketers can be paid at par with men cricketers. Why not other sportspersons can be given some more money? This has led to so many young people taking up a single sport in which: at the end of the day: n including state level and club level: only few thousands(10k in India) can play. Instead, if more sports were given much more(if not equal) resources as young cricketers are given,, maybe many others would take up another sport and excel in that helping India improve the medal tally or records in other sports. As a result: we have too many cricketers but so few swimmers, cyclists, athletes and so fewer medals and sports to excel. Hope it changes as it's slowly changes also as cricket slowly loses it's popularity. #hockey #hockeyworldcup2023
