"How can it be resolved ?" They have the world's 4th largest oil supply and folk are living on $2 a day. I would have thought the answer was obvious. Gigantic incompetence and corruption seems to be the problem.

@hycb5136 How does progress work ? In science one idea is challenged by another and replaced. In commerce one buisiness model fails and is replaced. What about Palestine ? corrupt old men keep lining their pockets and telling kids to throw stones for 70yrs and nothing changes. Well done Palestine , no change, no progress, no hope.

@AntonNb , Iraq have more oil than Norway and look at the difference. Norway have a $1 trillion sovereign wealth fund and a civilised, enlightened society. There is absolutely no reason Iraq can't do the same. It is all about leadership and education. The people need educating out of their medieval mentality. They need to experience the European enlightenment albeit 300yrs too late.

@AntonNb , but you have made my argument for me. All religions are invented. Since humans evolved there have been 10,000 religions invented ( an estimate by anthropologists). The Enlightenment taught us about science and rational thinking. Adam Smith "The Church was the most formidable combination ever formed.......... against the liberty, reason and happiness of mankind " You can say the same tenfold for Islam.

@AntonNb , LOL you are quite right : the Europeans didn't bathe or brush their teeth. In France (1562 - 1598) the wars of religion cost 3 million lives , mostly plague and starvation . Then the Witch-Craze cost 100,000 lives. This is what folk do when they are ignorant. Once Europe became enlightened they stopped believing in witches and religion. The Islamic world needs to experience the enlightenment through education :- a) stop executing apostates, allow young people to develop a healthy rational mind. b) stop brain-washing young people in Madrasa, allow them to think rationally c) give women equal rights and develop a fair society with rights for all minorities.

@AntonNb , anyone who looks at the middle-east and says "This isn't about religion at all" is about to make a massive miss-analysis.

@AntonNb "It's about jobs" doesn't say anything. Iraq has the world's 4th largest oil reserves and is like a 3rd world country. The reason isn't "Jobs" it is because the middle-east has never emerged from the middle-ages. Look at schools in Saudi teaching students to recite the Koran. It's madness. In 1557 Nicholas Bernaud wrote a book on voluntary servitude : that's the mentality of the middle-east. They submit to religion and dictatorship. In Europe the Reformation was about challenging authority. It never happened in the Islamic world.

@AntonNb , Compare Iraq and Venezuela (look at the big picture) : huge oil reserves and 3rd world poverty. I've made a video on Spanish-America's failure. In the C17th Spanish people were enthral to the Inquisition not oppressed by it, they embraced it. That "indigestible extremism" was transferred to the Americas. In North America it was "Representative assemblies" in religion and politics. They are two totally different models of society. In the middle-east there is a model of society : enthral to Islam and embracing of strong, despotic leadership.

world peace , take Zimbabwe as an example. It has fantastic farmland : the "bread basket of Africa". Once Mugabe took power farms were given to war-veterans who turned them into brothels. That's not the West's fault. Look at Spanish America : 12 countries in the South and 9 in central America and not one success. Do you think that is someone else's fault ? You have to analyse history. Spanish fanaticism - the Catholic Church and parasitical nobility were the foundation stone. The bloated bureaucracies of State & Church. 'Representative Assemblies' were the key to progress not authoritarianism and despotism. Islam and the catholic Church are prime examples of authoritarianism. Then you have the strongman leader , embraced in Spanish-America and the middle-east : it is a recipe for failure.
