No more dual citizens.

@AtteliaVel “Settlers are thieves” Who said the land belonged to anybody? Since when was ‘first come first served’ ever the procedure for allocating land between ppls?
2
@AtteliaVel Exclusivity wasn’t unique to axis powers. Most any ppl or nation will have standards for membership/access. The axis powers were certainly neither the first nor last to include things like ethnicity and skin colour in these standards. I can’t exactly just start calling myself First Nations, can I? Why is that? Because I don’t meet the requirements. I don’t have the correct blood… Are they not zees too?

@remionthemoon If you think we are fascist, you must really hate the rest of the world, hey?

@AtteliaVel Citizenship isn’t the standard. Citizenship is the formalization of one’s membership. Standards are met in order to obtain citizenship. A DNA test? So why does one group get to exclude on the basis of blood, yet it is evil for others to do so? Is that not the sort of thing the big bad axis powers did? And no, first come first served is not the standard for land allocation, and never will be. If it was, we would be redrawing maps the world over. We aren’t though, are we? Where we are, it is typically a result of war/conquest, because this is how land is allocated. You either take it and hold it, or you lose it. Nobody said being an animal in a finite world was fair, and nobody sets rules for that world except those w the biggest stick(s). Want land re-allocated? You better find a very big stick.

@AtteliaVel So Canada’s indigenous get to act like axis powers and base membership on ethnicity/blood? Why is it okay when they do it? As for land allocation, it has never been determined on the basis of first come first served, and never will. Those who are happy w their current holdings might tell you otherwise but, if they actually meant it, we’d be redrawing maps the world over, wouldn’t we?

@AtteliaVel No land will be given back. It will need to be taken back. That is all there is to it.

@AtteliaVel Shared ancestry is what distinguishes ethnicity and culture. You yourself said FN decide membership by blood/genetic markers, and now you claim it has nothing to do w ethinicity? As for first and second tier citizens, FN have more rights and privileges than I do. I’d love to be allowed to hunt and fish as they are. It is a pretty big deal to me, and a double standard amongst ethnicities involving some of the most fundamental of human activities. You claim I don’t understand history, yet you conveniently neglect that conquest is and more or less always has been how humans allocate land between populations, and that FN were engaging in conquest amongst themselves long before we arrived. They are human like the rest of us. Oh well…

@AtteliaVel Which power, if not violent agency, gives a ppl or individual ‘ownership’ over land? There is no such thing, and the ‘modern standard’ you refer to is merely a status quo maintained by the powers that be for the stake of protecting their interests in said status quo. Guess how they maintain/enforce that status quo…. Violence. As for FN having it ‘better’, I didn’t say they have it better. You mentioned two tiered citizenship, and I pointed out that they literally have rights and privileges beyond those which I enjoy. My school had FN only study areas. Nobody else could find a table, yet there were plenty open. Whitey just wasn’t allowed to use them though. That is a minor thing, unlike some getting much greater access to our natural resources. That is two tiered citizenship. What they do to themselves to kneecap their life expectancies isn’t my fault, nor is it the fault of Canadians in general.

@AtteliaVel The only thing keeping us from each other’s throats today is our collective post war fear of nuclear annihilation. You are conflating a shift in morality with a shift in costs. The human animal hasn’t changed fundamentally because ‘nation states’. We have merely altered our approach because the costs are too high. We still try to take from each other, but we are forced to do so less overtly. It is primarily accomplished economically, and it is called neo-imperialism for a reason. Anyway, yes, you’re right. Dead Canadians did horrible things to dead members of FNs. My meaning was that Canadians today aren’t responsible for the actions of Canadians yesterday, nor are they responsible for the unadvisable actions taken by many FNs today. Anyway, to your last point, that is some seriously bigoted stuff. There is no “history of whiteness”. Just a history of winners and losers. Figuratively stack and stand on the bodies of history all you want. It doesn’t mean you salvaged the moral high ground from defeat.
