  7. When you look at the wars the UN stopped, I suggest you look more closely. NATO troops in general, and the US troops specifically, tend to be the ones the UN asks to go. And you are right, the Balkans and the first Iraq war are excellent examples.

  8. I've never understood the concept of "Harm Reduction" when it comes to addiction because, in the end, an addict suffers from their addiction. Just because their drugs are pure and they don't have to buy from the black market doesn't mean addicts will become doctors and lawyers and attend church every sunday. Therefore "Harm Reduction" can only mean reducing the harm to everyone else BUT the addict, who is treated as an self-deleting error when they OD and die.

  9. I would say that you have a very narrow definition of what global security concerns are. Maybe that interaction with soldiers, maybe the only time these kids have ever had a positive interaction with someone from ANY government, changes their world view. Maybe having the Combat Engineers build them a school, teach them to read, build a road which allows them to move goods to a more distant market changes thier world view. Maybe THEIR world view is your Global Security Concern.
