***** When Chris Harris drove R8 he said "the best praise I can give it is that it doesn't feel like an Audi. This car show that Audi, the company that introduced understeer to the masses, can build good handling cars. He tested the last gen RS3 when he tested that car against BMW 135i and was very disappointed about the understeer. watch?v=2xwecTp91-o The problem with all front engine Audi cars is the position of engine. Open the hood and you fined the entire engine in front of the front axle, kind of a reverse 911. And despite a lot of electronic helps and torque vectoring the understeer is still there. Then we have the muted connection with the steering that isolates the driver from driving feel. You are right that if you go too fast in a turn with a RWD car, it can spin lose. That is true about any RWD car. But a car with a good chassis and balance will not oversteer unless you really provoke it.That is a great drivers car that offers a lot of enjoyment at almost any speed. And if you want a safe car you can either buy an AWD Audi with built in understeer or a BMW X with an AWD system that more favors RWD and sends more power to the rear wheels and less to the front wheels. It created a RWD driving feel, something Audi is introducing more and more, compared to their earlier 50/50. Audi is a great and safe car for very fast point to point transport. But if it's driving pleasure you want then I'm afraid you have to look elsewhere.
