  1. +Christian Smith I can understand your view if you're a Mclaren fan. Maclaren has been almost entirely about performance, a common mistake from a new manufacturer. They thought they could beat Ferrari with performance alone. Hence they been using that single engine in everything they have built but with different size turbos to offer it in different trim levels. Their first car, 12C, was a good indicator that they had a long way to go. High end sports cars are sooooo much more than just performance. They have to be special to attract that kind of big spending customers. And obviously 12C got lost in the shadow of 458. Just as 650S did in Speciale's shadow. While Ferrari was building world's greatest NA engine in 458, with highest hp/L of any sport car engine that even Porsche couldn't beat, Mclaren was adding bigger turbos. Speciale is seen as the pinnacle of best drivers car while Mclaren was chasing track time. A desirable sports car is a perfect mix of performance, drama, excitement and beauty. Or we all could dream about extremely tuned Nissan GTR, if performance was the single important part of a good sports car. Mclaren hasn't master that mix yet but they are getting better.
