When you have a neighbor like China that can make most of the stuff you used to make but make it cheaper, things get a bit tougher in business.

@ndorobei4391 Let me correct you, American workers pay into Social Security.

Steel isn't as important to the state as it once was. Fracking has become more important and employs a lot of people.
13
Disney bought the 20th Century-Fox film studio. They didn't buy Fox Broadcasting which is a separate company.

The switch to renewables? Follow the money.
6
Public housing went downhill once it became less racist.

Most problems occur in cities run by the Democrat Party and many have been run by the Democrat Party for decades. In the national government Democrats have put through a variety of government welfare programs and the problems get worse, not better.
6
@pc-9826 Other countries can beat China pricing now. Keep in mind the people working for low wage eventually start rioting.
5
The poor trashed out many public housing complexes in the U.S. Rebuilding them would do little good if you fill them with the same kind of people. The Section 8 housing voucher program just allowed the problem to spread and many once neighborhoods have been trashed out by these people.

This video was a reasonable assessment of the election in 2020.

African countries have been encouraging Europeans and Americans to invest in Africa. They are aware of Russia's and China's track record in social and economic matters. Maybe the old colonial powers were not that bad after all.
3
Mean is when you ignore law to gain some cheap labor while you arrest citizens for breaking the law. Double standards is not the best way to operate a society.

New York City was spending far more than it was taking in. Rent control made apartment rentals unprofitable and new construction almost came to a stop. Increasing taxes and crime caused many businesses to leave the city further reducing tax revenue.
3
@paulomilan515 No argument from me, rents are very high in NYC. Even where I live rents have gone up dramatically. I have pondered the question of does Section 8 make rents higher? Like colleges and student loans and medical care, once government money is thrown into the pot, any reason to keep prices reasonable go out the window. I am not aware of any studies on the subject. I have no idea how someone on the typical Social Security check can pay for rent these days.

The Democrats have felt Trump didn't spend enough money. And the HB1 visa system has been abused by allowing cheap labor in many fields. Silicon Valley would rather avail itself of HB1's than to help train American kids for these jobs. Dealing with China will take more then 4 years and what is ignored is the foot dragging by our so called allies in Europe in this matter. Anyway, if Trump upset the Democrats and the Europeans, he was no doubt on the right track.
2
This video was a sales pep talk for renewable energy.
2
@paulomilan515 The type of people you find on Section 8.
2
Immigration is a privilege granted, not a right. No reason to not to regulate it.
2
Maybe France should have a pension for rioting.
2
LOL... still blaming Reagan. You guys create a huge government that has so many nooks and crannies for money to fall into. Missing money, wayward government agencies come with big government.
2
The apartments worked as long as you placed a minimal amount of behavior standards in. While it is a white fantasy to think if you pat their hand, say a few kind words the poor will be better people. The sad truth is a lot of poor have neither the ability or the intelligence to be good citizens. They lead disordered lives that not only bring themselves down but bring down the people that surround them. Public housing will not work with these kind of people.
2
@ChrisTaylor-NEP Their choice only after they apply for legal admission.
2
@aubintasse9031 The Chinese use their military on the Chinese people :) Along with their police and security forces. By the way, ask the people of Tibet about not being invaded.
2
@neodym5809 Wear and tear from use is another issue. I did know a girl from Alabama who was in public housing and she said management was strict and inspections were done on a regular basis and her complex was crime free and well kept. She sent pictures and from what I can see they were nice as any higher income apartment complex. I am not against public housing but I think standards must be set in order to preserve quality of life.
2
Privatizing sometimes gives operation flexibility rulebook government employees do not have. When contracts are written basic requirements have to be written in.
1
These social justice types love their ethnic cliches.
1
@aubintasse9031 All this makes the Chinese policy better how?
1
@dailyfx1415 Several African nations like China's help because China doesn't care if they are thug governments or are corrupt as long as the Chinese get their money back. After your other response I have concluded China would really like you. I mean really, really like you.
1
If you have to go back 300 years to make your argument you may not have much of an argument to make. African nations seek and have invited investment from Europe and the United States

The Democrats call infrastructure anything they want it to be.
1
If racism in the U.S. ended half of the Black intelligentsia would become unemployed and the Democrats would lose 30-40% of their voter base. There is good money to be made in the race industry.
1
@ThaOneChrisJONES Huge government means money goes missing easily. And which party wants HUGE government?
1
it seems many Muslim countries have no problem with China and it's treatment of the Uyghurs.
1
Putin is a KGB man. You do not join the KGB to learn how to be nice.
1
@dosa2990 The rest of the world wants to follow suit. What happens, happens.
1
@paulomilan515 I never met any.
1
I did notice all of a sudden renewables became dirt cheap.
1
@NeillGuitars I said it's the left that likes terrifying people. At their worst they have murdered millions.
1
Anchors are used to stop or prevent movement.
1
@gotmilk91 LOL... i could really have fun with you, more so after that answer. It does appear you are not up on current events or even events from decades ago concerning the Communists in China. Have a nice day.
1
@NeillGuitars I am a science kind of guy and I still smell a lot of b.s. It has always been the left's technique to terrify people and the global warming thing is part of it, as is the culture war where there is a white racist under every bed. As for the Paris Accords, the hell with them.
1
Europe should give more support to Ukraine.
1
"But you don't hear any uproar with the native americans" They make the news in the U.S. Maybe you were busy learning Xi Jinping thought.
1
The 2022 Winter Olympics gave Americans a chance to learn American Eileen Gu was a darling of the Chinese Communist Party and she skied for them.

Three things you can depend on: Death, taxes and numbers published by the Chinese government. Okay, 2 things you can depend on.

Detroit politicians weren't much of a help with the image issue. As for Millennials moving in, I think Detroit had an urban pioneer type program that offered houses at very low prices. Get the house for next to nothing but you had to make it liveable in a year's time. Where I live we are becoming pre-Detroit. A cycle of tax increases to make up for lack or weak commercial development is setting the stage for failure. The school system has become a money pit and the people coming in are low income so tax revenue doesn't keep up with expenses. No city can rebound if the residents are not creating businesses to replace those that fail or move out and that is what happened to Detroit and is happening here now.

After Donald Trump finishes his second term, I hope his son Donald, Jr follows. One can never have too much Trump.
1
The U.S. military costs a huge amount of money and the bills for these overseas operations cost a fortune. I feel we should support Japan as an ally and Japan not buying the current missile defense system is not a major issue. On the other hand, Donald trump's job in part is to promote American products, be it missiles or hogs and corn. . Abe may not have gotten everything done he wished to do but considering the times and the changing international economic and political landscape, he seems to have done well.

If you offer discounts India wants to be your friend.

Africans can't get along with each. They wanted independence, they got it. Deal with it. The Middle East is a dumpster fire.

Peer reviewed = Thumbs up from the club. Na, elitism still means what it always has, a group of people who think they are above the lowly masses.
1
Which minimizes the damage California can do.
1
@xingchenfan7923 I do know more people are leaving California than coming in.
1
San Francisco is run by a bunch of Democrat Party/Progressive/Left Wing idiots. It's not rocket science. And what do the voters do? They reelect the Democrat Party/Progressive/Left Wing idiots back into office.
1
Basically the armies of Europe pretty much serve the purpose of being a jobs program.
1
Updated and appropriate hand wringing over the Mideast accomplished!
1
@johnmoser1162 I did and I gave you my response to it.
1
Nixon gained moderate Southerners while the hardcore racists went with George Wallace. Most of the problem cities have been run by Democrats for decades.

Any negotiation with Russia will be seen as a surrender by Russia.

I never could understand the slobbering fixation white Liberals have with Cuba. Cuba is a write off, a non-factor in the world economy and Cuba has put themselves in that position. Central and South America was put off to the side as American policy was focused on China with the end result Americas economy stalled while the U.S. (and Europe) helped finance China's military and diplomatic power. Trade to China should be reduced and instead the U.S. (and Europe) should work to build up Latin America. Policy has been one mistake after another.
1
In other words, you want open borders.
1
It costs a fortune to keep leftist professors in our colleges in the U.S. well salaried.

-10 social credit points for you!

I did see a few Indian films. In one they saved the world and still had enough time to get in a dance number. LOL. Another was about a bet made between Indians and the British over land rents. Production quality was high, the British treated reasonably. Only problem was they dragged out the story by using every plot device but an asteroid landing on the playing field to delay the ending. The film should have been edited to reduce running time but overall it was a well done. One of the best Indian films I had seen was done by an Indian in America about a young girl who had a great ability to dance. I was a bit surprised when I found out the director lived in the U.S. I wish I could remember the title of the film.

@ArawnOfAnnwn I know about Belgium. Are you trying to fix today's problems or are you just forever living in the past?
