That impressive tech from China allows China to watch every move you make. Or watch every move their competitors make. Kinda like what they can do with Tik-Tok.

After the first 200 bombs are set off, does the other 800 really matter?
3
@Shenzhou. I am well aware of 2025 but the majority of the population will not be in high tech.
3
@ragnarokws2670 I am involved in tech :) The majority of Chinese will not be making their living in high tech in 2025,2030,2035,2040,2045,2050,2055,2060 and so on.
3
@jascforfun7576 "That's how they build their own space station, that's how they built the world's leading high speed rail and mag-lev trains," I never said the Chinese do not make sophisticated products, what I said was China makes it's money on low labor cost goods. The majority of the population will never make a living off of mag-lev or space stations.

Considering Eileen's values, if China doesn't work out for her, she can try North Korea next.

If Latin Americans were only mature enough to run their governments like adults. Corruption and incompetency is the source of the problem, not the U.S. The U.S. has to come in to help clean up the self inflicted wounds.
3
@nmew6926 Their problems can spill over into the United States. Politically speaking, South and Central America can be pretty immature. And there is no one to blame but them.
3
@zeusmaryusep China is running internal debts and I think that is why they are selling their U.S. Treasuries. They have large bills at home to cover.
3
Basically Putin is saying he'll allow some of Ukraine to exist. As long as the Ukrainians take his dictation.

Cyrus lives in Canada now but he has left his heart in Guangdong.

China will be facing big problems. China's axe in the world is they produced things cheap but they are slowly losing that edge.
2
@JohnnysCafe_ "You should let the west know this." I just sent the email.
2
Every country added to BRICS will make the ship a little more rickety.
2
You do not get stronger by allowing others to steal from you.
2
My hunch is it's more business than any desire to see the old country. If the China thing doesn't work out, Eileen can try North Korea next.
2
You haven't mentioned one instance of why Russia's neighbors fear Russia. Since 1900 look at how The Soviet Union/Russia treated several of it neighbors. It's not just about Ukraine.
2
It wouldn't take a genius to know getting a port from a country for 99 years for $1.2 billion dollars is a no brainer. From the beginning China knew Sri Lanka would default and they would have a military valuable piece of real estate. Other loans were made to countries that would have a difficult time paying them off.
2
You are not allowed to buy property in China. Chinese who are American can buy and own land in America. China supports Russia, supports North Korea, has fired missiles at Japan, continual threats towards Taiwan, strip mines oceans of fish, demands intellectual property from business that wants to do business in China, doesn't even support constitutional freedoms guaranteed to Chinese citizens. Yet all we hear from Cyrus is constant praise for China. If you want to be taken seriously you must attempt at trying to be honest about China.
2
If anyone takes away her 1st Amendment rights, it will be by her choice, no doubt with some guidance from the Chinese government.
2
@therealdeal2163 The British leased the port of Hong Kong for 99 years and when it returned it back to China, China got back a small industrial giant. China has been lending money to countries that do not have a lot of cash to throw around. So when these countries default, China takes possession of the mortgaged property which will be used to feed the Chinese industrial machine. What Chinese is doing is assembling a transportation machine for their industrial output. They take your raw materials, then send you back cell phones and plastic goods. They also take your crops. To be nice they may buy some of your craft goods and native artworks. Anything else the Chinese industrial machine will stomp out of existence due to their low prices and high volume. One of Xi Jinping's goals is to make sure China builds all it needs so it doesn't have to buy from elsewhere.

@Birdylockso Ever look at the dinner party invite list for Chinese leadership?
1
@turtlemanist One is the Persian King from 530 B.C. The other posts videos about China on YouTube.

@888via Is the U.S. rounding up Chinese like they do in China?
1
Germany runs a trade deficit with China. Russia has no problem attacking it's neighbors. If Russia attacks, the U.S. will have to bail out Europe.
1
If the U.S. limited trade from Mexico, the Mexican market would shrink.
1
China has done remarkable things. But China is driving up a huge credit card bill and at a time the global economy is in a state of change. China's economy may start peaking out as other nations develop manufacturing economies. What you could see is a flood of goods causing deflation and reduced economic growth around the world. A man who has no problem locking up people on a mass scale has no problem making war on other nations. Make no mistake about it, Xi Jinping is not a nice guy.
1
@masahirukouta21 It was agreed upon the Republic Of China would get control of Taiwan after the Japanese surrendered. The Republic Of China is the government that now resides on Taiwan. The United States was allied with the Republic Of China during World War 2, not the Communist Party of China.
1
@wenling3487 As I said, if China launches 200 nukes and the U.S. launches 200 nukes, the rest won't matter. No one will be left to worry about the aftermath. Get it? It won't matter if they hit their target. The U.S. has only 3,750 useable warheads, a dramatic 90% drop from the 1960's level.
1
@wenling3487 Radioactivity... it floats through the air and lands everywhere. All your food will be radioactive. And your drinking water. Jack, you dead. When Putin hinted he was thinking of nukes... Xi Jinping went loud and told him to knock it off. Why? All the radioactivity will blow right over and into China. Dinner suggestions for tonight? How about a nice bowl of glow in the dark noodles?
1
@wenling3487 I understand MAD. I am just saying setting off a few hundred bombs will be just as effective. The end result will take a little longer for full affect but much less cost. Remember, work smarter, not harder. Take the $ savings and enjoy your last meal with the family. Take them to Disneyland if the park still functions :)
1
Look into how China treats Tibet.
1
@tat3179 If you had the good fortune to read previous posts of mine, surpass was never a concern of mine. You appear to be not fortunate.
1
None of this may matter if China's friend without limits Russia decides to start nuking Ukraine. Once that happens a space station will be the last thing on anyone's mind.
1
@thechloromancer3310 No, job loss is just starting. Plus other countries want high value. Countries like India are starting to make their moves plus India is a liberal democracy. Other countries that supply China with raw materials will start demanding sophisticated industries. Sure selling iron or copper ore is fine, but if you want them, you will buy them fully processed in our factories.

@Shenzhou. Income distribution.
1
@Shenzhou. As I said: Income distribution
1
@Shenzhou. China has more to lose if it loses it's export market than the U.S. has to gain by importing from China. As I learned more over the years about economics the less I trust economists and economic professors. My arguments against China trade is there are a lot of costs not taken into account when you import from low wage countries. The British learned this over a century ago, the United States seems to need to learn it twice over, first with Japan and now with China. Always remember the most basic law of economics: There is NO such thing as a free lunch.
1
@Shenzhou. No doubt he is saying expect large income transfers. The U.S. has income transfers now, though not as extensive as some other countries. It is inevitable China will have extensive social security programs and that is when taxation in China will get very interesting. Social Security spending is the largest line item for the United States (it's not the military). There are two groups in the United States that eat very well, tax lawyers and tax accountants.
1
@Shenzhou. The quality of American products is quite good these days but they are not as cheap as American workers get paid more. You have goods made 60-70-80 years ago that still work like new. The issue is cost. China's costs will rise as Chinese workers will demand higher wages and work less hours. The Yuan will have to rise in value and this will make Chinese products more expensive which will make other countries products more desirable. China sits on it's currency now but it is inevitable China will have to let it's currency's value rise which will make exports more unattractive. Xi Jinping knows this and is trying to build up the domestic economy to compensate for the loss of export market. Most countries do not want to buy from other countries, they want to make product themselves.
1
@Shenzhou. Same reason they have the same in Europe. Keep in mind inflation sets in as well so the Yuans you put away for the day you retire will be worth far less. As other economies around the world develop, this would apply pressure on Chinese business and they will have to cut costs and keep wages as low as possible so people will not have as much to save for retirement.

@aria_1237 Read the news like the rest of us do.
1
33 666A I see you can't defend China or North Korea too.
1
I think China is a bit stretched with all these loans they have made and some are going very badly. For instance some countries are finding the shiny new railroads China built for them are draining their budgets to keep operating. They now have roads and ports to no where. Also, since World War 2 the United States has invested in businesses and infrastructure that amounts into the billions of dollars. As for the Philippines, they act more like the dance hall girl who loves the one she is with and the Solomon Islands is no economic powerhouse, has no economic reason for being outside of being a vacation spot.
1
@ablam8 Russia will be a colony of China soon as China buys raw materials from Russia and then sells back to Russia everything the Russians can make but at lower Chinese prices. The rail line is slow and expensive and may never generate the hoped for traffic. If Europe reduces oil usage Russia will experience a decline in revenue. Russia will have to get by by selling commodities but that will cause a brain drain as Russians with high tech talents will move to the west due to lack of opportunity in the country. Also, after Russia needlessly attacked Ukraine how many companies will risk investing in Russia?
1
The U.S. can fine tune trade policy with Mexico, limiting Chinese companies access to the U.S. market.
1
The argument over NATO is a waste. Since the 1900's how many times has The Soviet Union/Russia marched into neighboring countries versus how many times has NATO attacked The Soviet Union/Russia? Half the time you can't get the EU to decide on what to have for dinner. And the half you can't get the EU to agree with the United States.
1
Installed Russians is a good way to describe it.
1
So some of these people come to America and they buy a few hot dogs and soda yet the spies that come with them steal billions from our country. I see you avoid that subject.
1
They still have statutes of Lenin and Josef Stalin in Russia.
