Love Toyota’s hybrid system. Just bought my wife a 2024 Lexus NX350H, top build quality and no range anxiety. Loves 40MPG and 500 miles per tank.
97
Toyota is not paying his new truck, we all are by watching his great videos. Good for him.
44
Exactly. Our Lexuses get its 1st oil change at 1K miles and every 6 months after. Mobil 1 synthetic and Toyota filter only. Trans fluid drain/refill every 30K miles.
27
Took a 1200 miles trip on our 08 Lexus RX350 with 155K miles in her. Ran flawlessly the whole trip.
23
Wait a couple more years. Than in 2024 you can pick up a 2021 model at around $72-5K. I plan to do that.
20
I would daily a LC , but not a 911.
19
I thought my 2017 ES350 is low mileage and looks like 95% of new, just hit 30K this month. This LS at 140K is low mileage and looks great.
15
@efil4kizum wow. That’s what I call a road trip. They sure don’t build them like that anymore, simplicity. Hopefully I will have a chance to do a trip like this when I retire in 10 years at 60, with my 2017 Lexus ES350, which just hit 36K miles. :)
13
I have owned both BMWs, Mercedes. Both don’t come close to Lexus. That’s why my wife drives an RX and I drive a ES now. Will never buy. Germans again, unless it is a Porsche 911, when I retire :).
11
@marcinnalepka1530 I disagree. We only drain about 25-30% of the fluid in the transmission pan. Majority of the fluid is still in the transmission itself and torque converter. By diluting 25-30% new fluid with the old, it adds lubricants to it. So far my wife’s 08 RX350 has 155K mikes and shift like butter, no clunkiness at all from park to reverse in our slope. We do replace the filter every 60K miles.
10
I sat in one with that caramel interior and it is stunning. However personally I rather have a little contrasting colors than all the same color inside.
10
@efil4kizum would love to and I doubt it would reach 300K miles in 10 years since my wife is a stay at home mom/wife. Anyway the RX is going to my teenage son in about 6-9 months when he gets his DL, then my daughter in a next couple of years. We are looking to buy another Lexus SUV hybrid soon. We are Toyota/Lexus family and would not buy other brands.
8
San Francisco Toyota are selling all Prime SE at $2k discount and MSRP on XSE. No add ons.
8
Only if you don’t drive it and let it sit in the garage. And that is not the car is all about.
8
Nice. But the proportion will be a little too small for a GT. This is not a 911 competitor, more like a Aston Marten GT competitor, you agree?
8
It is a comfortable sedan, but far from sporty. Compare to the Accord it is night and day.
8
I have a 2017 ES350, but if I were to get a replacement, I would rather pay a little bit more on a ES hybrid than a 4 banger.
7
@thereissomecoolstuff I am with you on this. European sport sedans are sure more fun to drive, regardless of hybrid or not. They simply don’t have the reliability of a Toyota. I am owned a e39 540i and a w211 E350, they were great under 7 years. After that it is maintenance + repair. I was ok with that, it didn’t bother me. As I get more mature in terms of age and value, I chose not to buy another German car. Been driving Lexuses for the last 15 years and I would never buy another German again, well maybe except a 911. It is on the bucket list.
7
@burntnougat5341 sure, but the Bimmers are at different price point. If money is no object go with the Porsche Panamera E Hybrid.
7
@bondgabebond4907 don’t know about your friend’s mechanic. I had my mechanic replaced the water pump on my wife’s 08 Lexus RX350 a few years back. I bought the Toyota water pump, thermostat and coolant at $300 some odd dollars and he charged $400 labor. Well under a $800 job.
6
The GTR is an entirely different animal than a Toyota. For me 3 Lexuses at home and I always do 6 months interval, which usually equates to 4K miles.
6
Yep. My wife 08 RX350 AWD has 145K miles. Beside water pump and front wheel bearing replacements, everything works accordingly, Only routine fluid replacement. Plan to keep in for another 100K miles.
6
@marcinnalepka1530 that’s why I don’t go to the dealer unless it involves warranty. Not in my wife’s 08 Lexus RX350 or my 17 ES350. I go to a local mechanic and watch him do the oil change. Oil change interval every 6 months no matter what, usually equates to round 3.5-4K miles. Mobil 1 and Toyota filter only, no exceptions.
5
My 2 cents, I start draining and refilling my wife’s 08 Lexus RX350 transmission fluid at 90K miles, this is done every year. Now at 158K miles it still shift very smoothly. I use Toyota’s WS fluid and nothing else.
5
@frankie3591 87 for the 2020, same as my 2017 ES350. Great car, mine is 5 year old 31K miles and not a single issue.
5
Just bought my wife a 2024 LexusNX350h. If the battery pack last 15 years and cost a few $k to replace, I will be perfectly happy to replace it. Let’s see what happens, she drives 6-7k miles a year only.
5
@JH-mt3pp Understand. For me it is about toy to net worth ratio. I will be turning 50 this year and retirement is near. But let’s say if my net worth is $5M when I retire i would buy it, that’s only 2% of the net worth. Would I buy a $500K Ferrari? Absolutely not. Also, this is assuming I will be 100% debt free.
5
No that’s not true. I always change oil at my mechanics and keep the receipt. And never had any issue with warranty with Lexus.
5
If you are concerned about acceleration, this is not the car for you. Get a $60K Tesla instead. This SUV cost starts at around $24K and 30MPG+ on the highway. It is a appliance on wheel in a good way.
5
Personally I wouldn’t get it done at $6500 and I would buy a $30K Corolla Hybrid. But I get it, not everyone have the cash and if $6500 buy you another 5+ years, it is not bad.
5
@nobodyimportant7804 we test drove the RAV4 hybrid limited as well and didn’t like it that much, it is a little noisy and rough around the edges. We then test drove both Lexus NX Hybrid and RX Hybrid. Both were great, but cost range from $47-55K before tax fees. We will most likely buy a Lexus instead.
4
@bidenwearsdiapers4026 yep. My wife and I have had Toyota Highlander and Avalon and now we have an Lexus RX and ES and gladly pay the price difference. In fact we will continue to buy Lexus forever, except may be an Porsche 911 when I retire, that’s definitely on the bucket list.
4
@briankalagher6687 good information. On our 3 Lexuses, I always do an oil change after 1k miles, then every 6 months after that. Mobil 1 and Toyota OEM filter only, no exception. Our oldest is an 08RX350 158K miles and still runs like a champ. The ‘17 ES350 just hits 38K miles and just did our 24 NX350H oil change at 1K miles last week. I will keep the 6 months intervals on all our cars.
4
I always use Mobil 1. Oil change every 6 months.
4
Personally I would do a drain and refill every 2 years no matter what the miles is. Did that in my wife’s 2008 Lexus RX350, currently have 158K miles on her and still shift like a champ.
4
Yep, I will never ever buy a car with air suspension. Too many issues down the road and too expensive to replace those shocks. Not worth it at all.
4
@georgejones5019 depends on what degree. No matter what, $1400 a month on car + insurance and gas is a lot even for a younger doctor. Best wishes.
4
The Venza is more refined, bigger engine and slightly more room inside.
4
@rjohns25 Sure, whatever fit your needs best is the perfect car. No doubt. I do like the newer ES design, looks like a 3/4 LS500.
4
@burntnougat5341 yes they are the same car, just tuned and dimensionally different.
4
My wife’s 08 Lexus RX also had the water pump failed at around 120K. Replaced it and it is good for another 120K miles hopefully.
3
Wait 6 years. You can buy a low low mileage one at $65-70k
3
We buy new. Lexus only, maintain it well and keep them for at least 10+ years.
3
@BPDBRETT oh ok. That means we are doing something right for our transmission when doing regular drain and refill.
3
Exactly. The problem nowadays is people buy the expensive car that they can’t afford. There are perfect car out there like Camry and accord at $30k. Might not be the coolest ride like most $70k SUVs or trucks, but gets the job done reliably and efficiently.
3
Yeah some of my Canadian friends told me the same thing, seems like you guys always get low allocation. In the SF Bay Area here, Prime SE are discounted by $2k and XSE are MSRP with no add ons whatsoever. I guess nobody want them because Tesla are cheap nowadays, especially with $7.5 Tax credit.
3
Yep, if you can’t charge at home or don’t have free charging at work, just get the standard hybrid.
3
The more money I have, the more I wanted this newest version. 😊
3
I would do it in increments. Drain and refill, drive until the next oil change do it again like that for a few times.
3
I had the transmission filter changed at 100k miles on my wife’s 08 RX350. At 156K miles at of today. No issue whatsoever.
