I believe that the Biggest achievement of the Cholans is neither those Grand Temples nor the wars they won but the network of canals in Kaveri Delta. I honestly hope this works. Will be good for the area for centuries to come.

@Neil Bajwa You need to see the network of canals in the Kaveri Delta to know what I mean. There's hardly any dryland left at all. And Kaveri is not really as mighty as the Ganga or the Nile. Now please don't start saying that I am saying something against Kaveri. It is our revered river.

@Neil Bajwa Temples have been built by many other empires also. Nothing to beat the Kallanai and the canals. The Kaveri Delta marginally escaped even the 1876 famine created by Robert Bulwer Lytton. Thanks to that. The Vaigai, Thamirabarani, Paalar etc belts experienced the Madras Province famine.
