I guess a dog isn't a mammal or a canine then.

Stay politically homeless, my friend. Don't get sucked in by ideology on either side. Take each individual issue as it comes and use your own judgment.
2
@richardmiller2049 Pot will be worldwide in the next decade.
2
"Tolerance is an elightenment concept". I love this line 9:21, and at 26:55 she nails it on the head. She recognizes that the other side can also say "But THESE are the facts". It's not black and white like people make out. This woman gets it far more than most.
2
So you disagree that Christianity became WAY more tolerant after the enlightenment?

I just finished watching a Munk debate with Matt Taibbi, Douglas Murray, Malcolm Gladwell. They were arguing if the MSM should be trusted. Malcolm Gladwell I was trying to argue that the mainstream media should be trusted. They didn't even need an hour long debate to prove him wrong, they only needed to show this clip.

Wiki is the worst. Go look up, anyone left doesn't like, and their profile will be all about "controversy" blah blah blah. Then go look up somebody like AOC. Obviously a very controversial figure but you'll see none of that on her bio page. Wikipedia is a disgusting mess, and I only use it for things like finding out the population of a country or how many types of lemur there are.

@bryceshepardmejia1 thankfully, it looks like the leader of the opposition is going to win the next election, and he seems very pragmatic and reasonable. If he turns out to be what we all think he’s going to be, then our worst days might be behind us.
2
@someoneelse1i1i I was going into a whole diatribe response but then it occured to me we probably agree but are getting caught up in semantics because text is a terrible medium to convey anything, let alone complex issues in a single paragraph.
2
Salvatore Luzzatto I literally see zero difference in the behaviour of the far left and far right. They both operate with the same demeanor, especially online. Just replace the word Trump with AOC or whatever, and the conversations are exactly the same.
2
I agree with the first part. It's why I'd rather deal with an honest scumbag than a phoney virtue signaller. Hence, I'd prefer Donald Trump to Justin Trudeau.
2
There are also far fewer hardcore SJW's than we think (and I'm the first to see every problem as a nail in that regard so need to calm down about them too). Just like people whining about "the Jews" (and usually for the stupidest reasons). There are only 14 million Jews on the whole planet. That's such a tiny fraction of the population yet you'd think there were billions of them (and all inherently evil) judging by how much attention they get. Muslims gets painted with the same brush. Only a small fraction of Muslims live in the Middle East yet when you think Muslim you think Arab 10 times out of 10.
2
That's the scary part. Especially in America where the right wingers are the ones with all the guns and through this whole time they have been largely silent. If they got really pissed off and fight back, it would not be pretty. I hope deep in my heart this never happens and that we return to some sense of reason long before that.
2
Man, if I had a crazy baby momma I'd for sure set up nanny-cam's in the house she was unaware of and I'd get her abusive behaviour on film. I'd do it for a long, long time and then let the courts see all of the raw footage. If you do that, just make sure to act as your real self though so it you don't come off as some obviously fake guy playing it up for the camera.
2
Wow. Done the video now and this woman is about as objective and pragmatic as it gets. She's wonderful. I wish more people would take her rational approaches to things. The fact she's Canadian is just bonus fries.
2
@pedanpontif Joe is great. He has all sorts of people on who are all over the map. He has hardcore capitalists on, he's has Bernie Sanders on, he's pretty balanced.
2
He clearly knows what's up. He's no dummy. These businessmen play the long game so they donate to help themselves. He didn't just give money for no reason. There's much more behind the scenes that goes into political donations.
2
Imagine having a product that the government pays for, and also pays for all of the advertising for. Actually, they also partially paid for the development of it. That's a tiny little piece of business right there.
2
She was right, except for the part where she said that they did nothing to provoke it. That's just intellectually dishonest on a level that's beyond belief. Anybody who believes Israel hasn't done anything unjust in their entire history needs to give their head a shake. People want to paint this, on both sides, as good versus evil, as if one side is totally innocent, and the other side is totally guilty. Good versus evil. It's not that simple. The reality is so much more messy and complex but people want simple narratives so they decide to believe the narrative of all of one side or all of the other and it's bananas.

Cent said the quiet part out loud. He just admitted he didn’t want Tim using nuance because right winners might take that the wrong way. And Tim said he doesn’t care and that’s the correct response. Speak your truth and it’s not your problem if other people misinterpret it. You can’t tailor your speech in a disingenuous way in a case of the ends justify the means. That’s my number one complaint about the left. They feel that you can use any tactic in service of your end goal.
2
Reminds me of those anti-capitalism activists who always make sure they have the latest smart phones and best MacBook Pros while sipping on their Starbucks. And that's just the leaders of BLM who are self-proclaimed Marxists yes stole millions of dollars of donations and bought themselves multiple homes. The world is chock-full of extreme hypocrites.
2
@Lisalisa-zt2pw it blows my mind that's so many companies got together to force censorship on YouTube, yeah they don't seem to have a problem with the view. You're allowed to hate, so long as it's against the right people.
2
But in Queen Elizabeth's case, it's actually the opposite. She presided over a monarchy that voluntarily gave the colonies their independence. That deserves nothing but praise. She should not be condemned for the sins of her forefathers anymore than you are I should. Education is good but apologies aren't. There is zero chance I would ever apologize for anything I didn't personally do.
2
Sunshine is the best disinfectant. For ALL sides.
2
" Austin Katchem 1 hour ago (edited) Democrats love to keep people poor" . Take off the tinfoil hat. Democrats really do believe that their ways will lead go prosperity. They think it's the rising tide effect. You disagree with that point of view and that's fine but that doesn't make them disingenuous. How do you feel when a liberal says that the right just wants to benefit the rich and don't care about the poor?
2
It's too bad the kid didn't ask him directly about one or two items, or ask him, after providing a few examples "What have you gotten wrong, and when you do, how do you let your viewers know?
2
Yeah it got a bit nuts when he went down the road talking about Oedipus etc. At the same time I respect him for speaking what came to his mind and not filtering it to pander.
2
@RIbigDave Trump's "crazy" side is absolutely perfect for international negotiations. You want your guy to make their guy a little bit nervous.
2
RFK would be. He truly wants to drain the swamp.
2
Saying "they started it" for a middle east conflict is silly. You have to go back millenia to find out who hit who first.
2
Daily Show alum who I guess has gone on to do other similar things
2
Yeah, they banned a video urging more research and the carnivore diet. Ted used to be the best. HOW does everything get infected with wokeness? It is absolutely the same as a cancer.
2
Yeah that was wierd. Call it what it's called on the map.
2
If Israel wasn't a "holy land" we might be more willing to make rational decisions.
2
He should've looked her the cameras and said in a soft voice "Yeah, she looks very intimidated by me, doesn't she?" in a Bugs Bunny voice.
2
She kinda has to. If she admitted she's going with a hoax then she'll be out of a job. She has no choice but to double down on her lie.
2
This is how virtue signallers migrate towards libertarianism.
2
That's what true privilege looks like.
2
Good point. I haven't heard "Grandma" in ages. That used to be the whole thing they'd try to shame you with. Also, what about grandpa?
2
That sounds good on paper but it's a terrible idea. I read a big thread by an ex army ranger once that explained exactly what that dynamic means and he put up so many really sound points it left no doubt it's an awful idea to arm teachers. I wish I could find it online now but I thought it was a good idea until I read the thread because he brought up what would happen from so many angles a laymen would never consider.
2
On both sides. It disturbs me to see how many people believe that they were "freethinkers" who basically had the same mentality as those they were fighting so hard against. The virtue, signalling on both sides was disgusting.
2
@shadowgray8337 Eww, has he? Dammit, I love his old blue collar music. I found it motivational. Now I see it as a cautionary tale about living in a bubble. He probably honestly thinks that the left is about the working class even though they haven't been for decades.
2
It’s incredible what percentage of policies hurt the poor the most. I just kills me when those policies are implemented by the people who say that they are the ones who want to help the poor and they call the people who are against those policies are the bad guys who hate the poor.
2
It's bananas how the media is mostly just an arm of the democrats. It's just as pathetic when a conservative media member fully goes after a liberal. How about just ask questions and record the answers?
2
Did that seriously happen? Why not debate the guy? Yes that's absolutely taking the cowards way out. If you wanna be president, you should be willing to debate anyone at any given time.
2
She talks about athletes, getting coaches, and all these different things to give different people a Lyft. Her entire argument basically boils down to "well, those people had an unfair advantage, so why shouldn't I because of my skin color?" That's it. That's the whole argument. It's insane. And because in this case we're specifically speaking about universities University, I would like her to say that to a room full of Asians. Have her tell them that it's OK that she can get in with lower qualifications than them because of her skin color. I double dog dare her.
2
Ghost Murmur- I listen to and watch as many rational people as I can and I have to say, I can't stand Crowder. I even like Milo but Crowder is too smug for me. Milo is "I enjoy being a shithead", whereas Crowder just comes off like a douchebag who happens to have some good ideas going on in his otherwise douchebag head. It got him attention in the beginning, but he seems more like an ideology 'Murica trumpeter than a rational, objective, evidence based reasoner.
2
If you found something that works for you, stick with it. Even if you fall off the wagon now and then, get right back on. Congrats on the improved health that came simply from eating better.
2
I moved to Vancouver during the lockdowns and it's extremely hard to find a family doctor and I had just gotten one during Covid. I really wanted to ask about ivermectin, but I was afraid to bring that up as a new patient. That's where we are at in society now. It's so sad.
2
Is it that they practice, journalism, or that you just unaware back, then about how things went on? I'm not sure there's much just suggest that corruption in politics in organizations is a recent phenomenon. I'm not saying you're wrong. Perhaps they used to have the utmost integrity, I just noticed that in general, I've been questioning a lot of things lately, and wondering how corrupt they really were back then, just unexposed because we didn't have the Internet.
