For all times I have hiked around Niagara Falls, going past the fences and signs, without suffering serious injury, my heart goes out to this mother and son who fell to their deaths. I can see that area from my side of the river. A few days ago the temperature was as cold as it gets, minus fourteen, and then the sun came out the next day, so the top of the grass was melted and it was too easy to slide and fall, doing that myself on a sloping lawn.
