So, none of you care about upholding the principles of the British legal system? Just let the government do whatever they want to us?

Congratulations Evelynel3373, you are the only person here who actually defends the legal system for all British citizens.

It’s so interesting reading all these comments from everyone who clearly despise the legal system in this country. Nobody believes in the principles of innocence before guilt or the right to a fair trial, as you can tell by the way TalkTV talks about Shamima Begum.

@otakarlojkasek488 She didn’t say that. You really need to stop listening to other people and check these things for yourself. I think we should put her on trial and punish her for her crimes. You seem to think we should let her go free and kill more people. We have different views, that’s all.

You don’t care about the legal system then?
1
@Nickle314 They ruled that but I believe the decision is wrong.
1
@jrobs1133 i can defend the principles of the legal system without agreeing with every decision
1
@Nickle314 Because it sets a dreadful precedent. It effectively gives the government the right to deny a British citizen a fair trial by proxy. It’s also illegal because you can’t leave someone stateless.
1
@Nickle314 from my reading of the law I think it was the wrong decision.
1
@jrobs1133 Yes, but based on an interpretation of the law. I think this interpretation by this court was wrong.
1
@jrobs1133 And you weren’t privy to that information either, so how can you decide it’s right? Just your bias I suppose. Or is it because you think we should just blindly agree with everything any court or government official says? My opinion is simple. It’s illegal to make someone stateless and that’s exactly what has happened.
1
@jrobs1133 You are biased because the only reason you are not questioning the decision is because you agree with it. If they had decided to allow her to retain her citizenship, you wouldn’t be defending it. On the other hand, I do understand the simple law that you cannot make someone stateless and this is what has happened.

@minkyfran8307 No she hasn’t. Even if she has, it’s illegal to send someone to a country where we know she’ll be executed by the state.

timtan2023hiyffg she doesn’t have dual citizenship in Bangladesh. That’s completely false. And, I want her brought back here to face trial for her crimes to deter terrorism. It seems to me that allowing her to be free in another country is not being tough on terrorism. It seems she has gotten away with her crimes. If she had murdered a member of your family, would you want her to be free in another country? Also, I care about and uphold the principles of the legal system. They apply as much to Shamina Begum as they do to any of us.
1
timtan2023hiyffg ok, as long as you are happy for the same rules to apply to you and your family. If a British citizen murdered your family, then fled overseas and was granted citizenship elsewhere, you’d defend the British governments decision to revoke his citizenship and let him live freely elsewhere. And would you agree with the same rules applied to you if you were accused of a heinous crime before a court had found you guilty? Would you agree that you deserve no fair trial, no legal aid and left in a barren land?
1
@andsowot You don’t want fair trials or the presumption of innocence before guilt? Well, maybe you should go and live in a country like North Korea. They don’t have them. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
1
@robinstreets1792 Maybe we should strip you of your citizenship too. Would you defend the government to take away your citizenship if you were accused of a crime? It seems to me that you are the snowflake here because you get triggered over Shamima Begum to the point where you would happily give away the principles of the whole legal system to get your way. That’s actually exactly how the woke mob react to offensive speech. 😂😂😂
1
@garethm7528 1. I believe her citizenship was unfairly taken from her because it made her stateless. 2. She does not have Bangladeshi citizenship. She has never had the right to Bangladeshi citizenship and the Bangladeshi government has made this very clear. You really need to learn the facts before you spout nonsense and attack other people.

@genericuser4162 again, you’re too stupid to understand my point. Legally, she is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. And I’m not defending her. I’m defending the principles of our legal system. As for the parents of the Manchester bombing, I’ve no interest in what they say. Their beliefs have no bearing on the principles of law. You seem to be encouraging mob rule.

@patgregory4320 She wasn’t convicted of treason. In fact, treason isn’t even a crime in the U.K. anymore. All of that previous legislation has been overturned. In any case, her citizenship was taken away when she was found in 2019 and the government wanted to absolve their responsibility for her (which they do whenever they can) rather than charge her for her crimes.
