We seem to be the first society to believe that death is the worst thing that can happen to us. It’s very obvious that it’s not. I think we need to be much more accepting of death and even embrace it. We need to reevaluate our lives and how important they are in the grand scheme of things. What is a life worth? Well, it’s worth something, but it’s not worth everything. The government keeps telling us we have to make sacrifices in these times, but the truth is we are not making real sacrifices. We are living in fear and giving away anything we can just to stay alive despite a negligible risk for most people. A genuine sacrifice would be for people to accept the risk of catching this virus (possibly even becoming sick or dying) in order to help people like Stuart stay in business. What we are doing now is actually the most selfish and cowardly thing possible, but like so many selfish and cowardly actions, we pretend to ourselves that they are courageous and noble.
