  1. Ironically if the house of representatives used the same system to pick a leader for the house as we use to pick the members of the house the Democrats would hold the speakership now. Because in a first past the post vote they got the most votes.

  3. Ironically this is not how our general election works. First past the post that got these candidates into office would have resolved the speakership in a single round. Ranked choice voting would have reached a majority in a single round. The system used to pick the speaker could literally never come to an end if they stay stuck in their views nothing happens.
