Unfortunately joe Manchin blocking her not Bernie Sanders gives Biden cover to go more right wing with the next choice. Though I dont know how he will pull that off unless he picks Mitch McConnell.

Yup I would tell the electic company to cut me off I will spend the same money on an off grid solar system and be my own power company

No crap in 2 months you could pay for a off grid solar system and have free energy for the next 25 years.

@hizzlemobizzle there are plenty of reports of people who have a normal electric bill of $200 getting hit with $10,000 this month from the Texas storm NPR showed it this morning so no the person in question who lives on social security wasn't pay $10,000 before he got the $15,000 bill.

Off grid solar is cheaper than just a few days of electricity in Texas

They are just being good caplistist and letting supply and demand set the price of their services. /s But honestly when someone tells you they are a caplistist to their bones this is what they stand for

@paul9156c oh no they have definitely been saved from extinction by the supreme court ruling on citizens united

Norm Meunier it is spot pricing changing by the minute maybe less. To show you the price per kW for the entire billing cycle would take pages of data.

@hizzlemobizzle something similar is used in Australia and works well for people with home solar with storage but in Texas there is no regulation which means there is no upper or lower limit on the price of energy it is just 100% supply and demand pricing so when the grid crashed the power left on the grid become crazy expensive.

Norm Meunier basically it is treating energy as a commodities market on wallstreet is the easy way to think about it. I am not an expert in the Texas model but I have read about the Australian system where people can use their home storage to push power out on the grid basically there is software where you can place buy and sell orders in Australia but in Texas I think it is more just that your power company gets to pass along all their costs to the end user because there isn't the home solar and storage market in Texas.

Let me see pay the power company $16,000 for last months power bill or call a solar installer and leave the power grid for the same $16,000 and never pay the power company again. Free market does have a solution
