Further to my comment below, the US role her has been shameful. We knew in October what was coming and did nothing to help. And the $2+ billion we've supplied in two months is what we spent in Iraq every month, and this is vastly more important. If Biden were Trump and did this ,there would be hell to pay. All of this new armor and weapons won't get there for 2-3 weeks, if any Ukrainians are left to use it by then. And that assume Russia doesn't wipe out the 800 mile trek from Poland to Donbas.

Ian seems wrong on much of this. First, an array of Generals (US and British) who've overseen this area say a victory is not only possible but the only viable strategy and allows Ukraine to rebuild and second, what's the upside of NATO just supply enough to let some more Ukrainian towns be demolished, maybe ten thousand more killed, with zero assurance that Russia would not at a later time seek to expand its hold. I have a lot of trouble with the idea we play with Ukraine like a toy for a "stalemate." Putin is an animal, and animals only back off when they face slaughter.

@R3GARnator I'm aware of all that. The point is the US knew for months ahead that something bad was coming and, after seeking Trump's impeachment for withholding weapons, Biden did the same. One need not be a General to know that when you fight against someone like Putin, you fight to win. If we are concerned about the terrible loss of life there, we don'tr drip-drip weapons. I also know about deliveries, and know what getting that heavy equipment from west to east takes a week or more. And that assumes that the Russians don't figure out how to bomb supply lines. if they do, it's too late.
