  7. Proud of them. This is how every modern democracy is conducted. The Capital is always run by the central political entity, be it Washington DC, Paris, London, Beijing or Brussels.

  8.  @jaswindersinghnarula4379  if that is a rebuttal it's a sorry one. This isn't a policy plank that defines the BJP. Manoharlal did what was needed for his time and the Modi government is doing what is needed for its vision. Parties are not obligated to follow prior precedence and can change based on what they have learned or what needs to be done. If Delhi has to be the capital then it has to be controlled by the center's vision. It cannot be ruled like the rest. Even the major metropolitan areas have such preferential status within their states.

And how can one interested in democracy arrive at obviousness without hearing both sides? On the topic, Tharoor used the federalism and people's representation argument. Amit Shah spoke of the prior precedent agreed upon by all Nehru, Patel and Ambedkar that Delhi shouldn't be given full statehood considering it is the capital. The center's influence will wax and wane. Delhi currently is going through a discom payment and water management crisis due to which the center is increasing its involvement.
