We are subsidising fertilizers(1.10L Cr), electricity and water supply(state list, not quantified) and buying the same crop through FCI(2.4L Cr) which rots because there is no facility in the world capable of housing that quantity sustainably and the market has been oversupplied for decades. All this while we are causing an ecological crisis, water table depletion, stubble burning and social strife. (If you google any of the numbers, refer to NIC or GOV dot IN websites). For ecological crisis, refer to papers by BD Dhawan and SK Srivastava as a start.
