The op is asking for a popular vote for the name change, I reminded him that India is a "democratic republic" which means the legislative representative we send isn't constrained by the opinions of their electorate. Now read your further response and let us all know how topical they are.

  4.  @__Man__  that isn't oligarchy, it literally is democratic republic/ representative form of democracy. 😂 You have been misinformed that democracy means people vote on each decision aka direct democracy. Not even an apartment complex/society can be run that way.

What you are describing is called a direct democracy which is impossible in today's world due to the knowledge/experience gap between the average voter and administrator. Why should India keep billions in USD reserves when we have poor people seems like a valid question only on the street, ask anyone with an education or work experience in exim finance what happens when your country runs out of reserves.
