  1. Time has come to understand that commercial crops are a legacy of colonialism. Behind our water wars be it Kaveri or Krishna is a incessant need to grow sugarcane(specifically), rice, wheat in regions where the water cannot be sustained. Going back to zero budget farming is only step one. Step two is innovation in our own conditions with technology and farming methodologies. We cannot copy what Western countries did for their own agriculture as they are cold countries with access to huge lands with combine farming, massive reserves of water, monoculture farms and industrial production. We cannot go in their direction as we operate on small farms with no space for combine harvesters to manoeuvre, let alone operate. Green revolution was a tactic for the short term, not a strategy for the long run.

  3. It isn't man, I urge you to do your own research. Haryana and Punjab have become use cases for agriculture research on overworked soil. Zbnf should have been introduced in 70s.
