@AmalTan states can secede like Britain did? Do you honestly see the broader implications?

@forkrust9296 at some point Indians need to wake up and smell the coffee. We will remain small dealing with internal problems till the point we start projecting power and influence. You solve internal problems with external resources. The reason Western powers stopped colonisation isn't morality, they just cut out the unnecessary parts and made it efficient. I love how scared Indians get when they are proposed an idea of integrating a culturally similar country but the same strong sentiment gets muted when France controls colonies, Britain still has islands in the Indian Ocean, the US projects its Naval power in the Indian Ocean.

@AmalTan 1. Please take 5 minutes a day to read up on the various historical aspects of the EU. Do this for a month and you will find out how unsustainable the model is, even more for us. It's basically the result of warring nation-states getting tired of war and agreeing to use French colonies, English logistics(later American) and German/Italian industry to create a common market by exploiting global resources and specialisations within regions(Brusells/London finance for instance) 2. I am saying don't allow the concept of nation states to come up in the sub-continent in the first place. We already made the mistake of allowing linguistic states, fortunately for us the historical Hindu identity and the memory of the independence struggle prevented further splintering. We have plenty of politically and historically unexplored fissures that can result in wars if we became EU. 3. A political union is only sustainable if the entity produces economic and social value. India already suffers from a lack of resources, energy density and access to markets. 4. As for our neighbours, let them continue but an Eu style integration minus political control is a disaster. I am not proposing wars and takeovers but a reduction in their autonomy has been demonstrated as a strategic goal for us. Nepal, Bangladesh, Lanka and Bhutan have played off us with the Americans and Chinese. The Indian taxpayer paid for their vaccination and other developmental works without us getting returns.
