@lasigh1478 but in accordance with the wishes of the people of Northern Ireland.

@lasigh1478 the British won’t be putting up any customs posts so no need for the army. You’ll have to talk to the EU about what they intend to do.
2
@oldcremehelian3708 nope, if the Eu puts up a hard border they will have broken it.
2
@oldcremehelian3708 protecting the single market is not the UKs problem. So the protocol will be dropped.

@lasigh1478 the same way goods are monitored between Sweden and Norway. The same way goods are monitored on the island of Saint Martin. 👍🏼

@lasigh1478 I think you’ll find it’s electronic and there aren’t physical customs checks. As for St Martin, there are no customs checks and half the island us in the EU and hand the island outside.

@caminantesihaycamino2855 what solution? If they really wanted a solution they wouldn’t have been using NI as leverage in the negotiations and would have come back with these solutions way back in the spring or just never tried to impose the protocol as they have been.

@Subjagator either way there should not be any restrictions on UK goods going to a UK country. They don’t need to make checks on 95% of Uk goods going to a UK country. They can do checks on the 5% that are going on to Ireland. They don’t need to do checks on UK pets travelling within the UK. And a court that sits outside the UK should not sit in judgment over anything or anyone within the UK. It’s as simple as that. What the EU wants to do around that is up to them.

@karstenschuhmann8334 who cares whether the UK agreed to it. The UK is saying it needs changing and if it’s not going to be changed we’ll throw it out. Contracts last as long as they benefit both parties, this agreement doesn’t work for the UK and is no longer viable.
1
@karstenschuhmann8334 like I said before, any treaty or contract is only worth something whilst it benefits both parties. Once that’s no longer the case, it’s either changed or the other party walks away. This isn’t some great mystery. As for Brexit, since when has self determination ever been so controversial? The UK made a decision that it doesn’t want to be governed by unelected officials in Brussels, this is a perfectly sensible and reasonable decision to make and well within our rights. The sooner you all get over it and accept that it wasn’t a crime the better for all of us.

@Mountainclimber-zv4u1 well obviously it shouldn’t be down the airing sea as NI is in the UK and not the EU. Like I said numbnuts, the UK wouldn’t see the need to make those checks at the border and made previous proposals based on that. Where the EU sees fit to do its checks is entirely up to the EU and the EU’s problem. You talk about the UK’s decision to leave the EU like it’s a crime or something negative, when it’s actually an incredibly positive thing as it put democracy first. You plainly know nothing about the situation in NI as feee movement of people has nothing to do with the Irish border. The was free movement between the UK and Ireland long before the EU existed.

@karstenschuhmann8334 no it doesn’t mean walking away from the GFA. Keeping the protocol means walking away from the GFA, it’s already been breached, you need to get that into your head. A reasonable compromise does not involve compromising the integrity of your country. Like I said, how would you feel about it if it was Bavaria. The NIP is in no way shape or form a compromise. But yeah, happy to walk away from the WA and the trade agreement. We agreed to the divorce bill to get a trade deal but the trade deal is so thin there isn’t much in it anyway. We walk away you lose your second largest export market and £40 billion that Germany will have to pick up. Not to mention the end of the EU fishing fleet. We don’t lose very much at all. You might not want to wish for this to happen.
1
@karstenschuhmann8334 I can’t be bothered to read all that but you’re not even British. The absolute cheek of you to think you have the right to tell us what is what in our own country beggars belief. This is exactly what’s wrong with the EU. We are not in the EU, NI and it’s place within the UK has nothing to do with some random busy German on YouTube. Now jog on.
1
@caminantesihaycamino2855 nope, because NI is in the UK it’s not part of the Republic. However the UK won’t put up any infrastructure on the border. Any infrastructure that goes up will be by the EU. So they will be putting up the physical border. The end. 👋🏼
