@williampatrickfagan7590 I wonder who is going to pick up the tab though?

I can confirm it’s loads better 👍🏼

You’re right and the UK is democratic. 👍🏼

@christophermichaelclarence6003 that doesn’t make any sense. You also have a bizarre fake name. Try harder please.

Live free or die constitutional monarchy numbnuts. 🤦🏻♂️

@MeganoOdles lol 😂

@Trax777 are you trying to say that they are incompetent? Whether they are or aren’t is irrelevant. The key point of that statement is British government. They were elected by the British electorate not selected by the French and German presidents in some back room deal. 👍🏼

We are don’t worry, it’s nice to be a proper democracy again.
2
@guleiro you’re absolutely right, because we elect an MP who represents us in parliament. It’s parliament that passes laws, not a president or prime minister. Hence why parliament is sovereign and gets its authority from the people. Where does the European Commission get its authority from?
2
@guleiro exactly the EU commission is appointed by the French and German governments… and then rubber stamped by the EU parliament who aren’t actually given an alternative on who to vote for. You also need a better understanding of EU governance, the commission is the executive, they make the law. In the UK parliament is the executive. One is elected directly by the people, the other is not. One is democratic the other is not.
2
@inesdamonteines3985 nope, the House of Lords is the secondary chamber. It doesn’t make laws, it can only suggest revisions and can’t prevent them from passing. Hence why it’s unelected. It’s a similar function to the EU parliament but stupidly the EU parliament is the bit that’s elected. We don’t need to elect the PM, it’s not a presidential system, parliament passes laws not the prime minister. Power resides with parliament. Your directly elected MP represents you in parliament.
2
@guleiro sorry, remind me why the UK needs to pay billions just to hand over control of our laws and governance? Bizarre. Assume you’re from one of those countries that gets a free ride. 👍🏼
2
@guleiro constitutional monarchy, the mother of democracy and a country that has given the world modern economics, vaccines, DNA, computing, the World Wide Web, antibiotics, electricity, ended world slavery and saved Europe on at least four occasions. No need to thank us though. 👍🏼
2
@peterdoyle1591 who bailed Ireland out during the financial crisis? The UK government prevented Ireland from going bankrupt, nor the EU. You might want to stick that in your memory bank as well.
2
It’s better now, we have democracy
2
@sakarijukarainen2321 we were told Brexit would be an economical disaster, it hasn’t been. The UK is currently the fastest growing economy in Europe and that is predicted to continue this year. Possibly we would be doing better in the EU but it’s irrelevant, Brexit was about democracy not economics.
2
@sailor67duilio27 great, enjoy picking up the bill. It’s a shame the EU is also incapable of defending its own borders and the Eastern countries have had to ask for the UK to help. No need to thank us, we are used to your ungrateful, two faced, pettiness. 👍🏼

@Lies Tricks the top jobs in the commission are chosen by France and Germany. For many years France would get finance age Germany trade and they would stick a compromise candidate that they could both live with as the president. It is what it is, if you add who has got the best jobs in the commission over the years France and Germany are way ahead of everyone and then Belgium and even Luxembourg do well as they always vote with France and Germany. It’s a stitch up, the EU is designed to benefit those two countries.

@peterdoyle1591 yeah we know, if you’re Germany it’s great. The UK had a massive trade deficit as our economy is focussed on FS. It wasn’t that great for us and certainly wasn’t worth sacrificing our democratic independence for.

@peterdoyle1591 as for the tab, only about four countries actually contribute to the EU budget. Those countries are going to have to find another 5 billion a year at a time when they are trying to recover from the pandemic and the EU is looking to grow its budget and take on more powers. Like I said, have fun picking up the tab.
