  9. MY grandfather was one of these german POW in Texas.. Never said one bad thing about the US in his whole life. Quite the contrary. He told me that he was often invited to eat dinner with the family when the work on the farm he had to help at was done. They also often got gifts such as apples, Oranges and so on from the farmers for good work..

  18. my grandfather (german soldier) was captured by the US in Monte Casino. He had nothing but praise for the US since they treated him so good, way better than the German army in his opinion.. He always called the day he got captured his second birthday...

  29. My grandfather once told me that he and his comrades used a couple of American M1 briefly before they surrendered to the US army.. They had ran out of ammo for their K98s and the M1s still had a couple of shots in them… Apparently he didn’t like how they handled but that was all they had left

  35. My grandfather worked as a translator for the US Army after he was captured... he always said that he was treated way better by them than by the the Germany army... getting extra rations and even invitations to common meals wasn’t uncommon
