The military CANNOT detain or even stop anyone crossing the border. All they can do is give secondary support to the border patrol. The military isn't even allowed to carry guns.

@d.r.robinson9599 No they can't carry guns. Congress would have to suspend Posse Comitatus for the Military to carry weapons on U.S. soil. The National Guard can, but Active Military CANNOT. That is in the Military code of conduct.

@UNDER THE COIL They will not be armed. The Congress would have to suspend Posse Comitatus for (Active Military) to be armed on U.S. soil during a Police or Federal Action like securing the border. Otherwise, it would be a direct violation of the constitution and the military code of conduct.

RC RC The border patrol and local law enforcement have not asked for additional help on the border. The first line of defense is the National Guard. You cannot justify Active military on the border if you haven't even asked the federal government for help to start with. So who exactly has "classified this as an invasion"?

@deborahmoore4125 Again, the US military cannot detain or even stop anyone on the border. Posse Comitatus for beds active US military actions on us soil. First line of defense is the border patrol and local law enforcement, then state law enforcement, then the National Guard. Any active military personnel taking part in a civil or police action on u.s. soil will be immediately court-martialed.
