  1. Their viewership is only down 6%. Empty seats don't mean shit, the NFL makes the bulk of their money from television contracts and merchandising/licensing.

  2. hillock10 Attendance of the games don't count as much as actual viewership numbers, meaning, television ratings. The NFL makes the bulk of its income from two sources: [1] Merchandising/ Licensing [2] television and radio contracts. At the time I made the comment the viewership was at 6% here's a Sports Illustrated article that puts it at 7.5%.
