Instead of jumping into a new set of car payments I toughed it out and saved for ten months until I found a good used car previously owned by an elderly couple. My car insurance is $65 a mo. and my annual car tags are $42. One of the smartest financial moves to make today. The economy is on shaky ground and there's no telling when the shoe will drop. You don't want to be living above your means when the economy crashes.

  5. Speaking of a Man with no bills, last year my car decided to have catastrophic engine problems at 70 MPH a few months after I paid it off. Murphy's Law strikes again. Anyway, I decided rather than jump into a new set of car payments I would save up until I found a good used car. Luckily I was working from home and didn't need a car very often. After ten months I found a good used car with a lot of life left on it. Now I have no car payment, cheap insurance, and my annual car registration is only $42. Living beneath your means should be the goal. With the economy the way it is you do not want a car payment.

  19. If you have a decent job you should be able to support yourself, provided you stick to a budget, cut out unnecessary expenses, and choose to live beneath your means. Far too many people have too much debt for their salaries. They want to experience a certain standard of living but can't do it without going into bad debt like credit cards. And having a car payment is a big mistake for most people. I'd bet if most people complaining about how expensive the cost of living is also happen to have a car payment.

  20. Back in 2016 I got into my house at a 4% rate. I'm glad I got in when I did. If you do the math on a 30 year mortgage at 7% interest compared to a 30 year mortgage at 4% the amount of money a person would have to pay at the higher rate at the end of the loan is staggering.

  26. Gen X here. I had a good work ethic instilled in my at an early age. It has served me well. Funny story: six years ago I needed to get a second job and I thought delivering pizzas would be easy enough. The manager there knew to hire applicants from my generation because of our work ethic. And working among Gen Z was quite eye opening. I'd never heard anybody say "my anxiety!" before.

  34. When I had a 2015 Kia Optima I was paying over $100 a month for insurance. No wrecks on my end, no tickets. Good driving record. I called the ins. co. and asked them why it was so high given my clean driving record. They responded with some BS about that was a popular car that got stolen a lot. Bunch a BS. Anyway, after that car died on me I decided I did not want to jump into another set of payments so I saved up and bought a twenty one year old car. No payments and my monthly insurance is $64. My registration is $42 a year. Do what you can to stay away from car payments.

  47. I don't have a car payment. My only big bill is my mortgage. I live beneath my means and use credit wisely. My 401 (k) continues to get fatter every month through my maximum contributions. I guess it all comes down to choices & priorities, and whether or not people are falling victim to advertisements & the marketing departments, and being unable to delay gratification.

I wish there was a pill they could take to get over that crap. Women need drama so they allow their minds to create the worst case scenario, when in all likelihood the guy was telling the truth. Women really do believe all guys cheat when in reality most guys don't have the opportunities to cheat. Chad & Tyrone? Oh yeah. They have opportunities wherever they go. Most guys are good guys who are loyal and want a loyal woman who has her fear of abandonment handled. This woman is displaying another reason why Men would rather be single.
