Italy and France btw have the best healthcare systems IN THE WORLD and they are free. Education is free. We even had UBI for a while, before Meloni got rid of it. We are paid to go on vacation at least a month every year. We pay people to have children. You know that pensions are paid by taxes right?   6. I assure you than in my country, Italy, women (and many men as well) are done having children because we understand it's a trap. I never met in 49 years a woman who is NOT childfree by choice. It is our choice, and you people need to respect that.

She does love cats though, more than humans. She is not shy to tell us she prefers cats and should have stayed childfree and I totally agree with her.

  9. ​​ @LordDefekator I am Italian. Italy has one of the lowest birthrates in the world. As an antinatalist, I am proud of that. I do not care what happens to Italy after I die. The Roman Empire died too, but Italy is still here. The people and culture change over the centuries and that is not a bad thing. My friends and family are mostly childfree and antinatalist too, so they dont care what will happen to "Italian culture" either. Btw, "Italian culture" is just a social construct. There is not even an "Italian people". As a Northern Italian, I have more in common with a French or German person than a person from Sicily. I love South Italy, but it does feel like a different country. So exactly, why should it matter to me who will live in this piece of land in a hundred years? Italians, Africans, Russians... they are all the same to me.

European history is full of terrible things like wars between countries, civil wars, the birth of fascism (in my own country, inspired by our very own Roman Empire), an evil ideology that infected the whole world, religious wars, the very many evils commited by the Vatican (also in Italian land), the most powerful mafias in the world and more. All these evil things were a product of Italian/ European culture.

Even some of the greatest philosophers, authors, poets we study in highschool in Italy thought so CENTURIES AGO. I know American highschools are a joke, I spent a year in one in 1992 as an exchange student. But in Europe we are required to study centuries of philosophy and literature, religion is a private matter, and rational thought prevails. If you are an American, studied in America, and never travelled nor read any philosophy book, I understand why it is hard for you to grasp my pov. Btw, having kids so they can look after you in old age is immoral and selfish. And most people abandon their old relatives in the USA anyway. That is not European nor Asian nor African culture. It is American culture. In Europe we have safety nets both thanks to a much better welfare system, and a broad concept of family (not "nuclear family" like in the USA). I am not worried about old age and death AT ALL. I am glad I spent my youth having the best life I could get and I would die happy today 😂 our new battle in Italy is assisted suicide for the old and sick. Polls say most italians agree with it. We just have to get rid of Meloni and laws will be approved. If not, Switzerland is just behind the corner (I live in North Italy). Again, why would I worry about old age? I worry about the environment, and wars happening in our backyard, like Gaza and Ukraine. I have seen too many children killed by an evil regime in the last months. How can you even think about bringing new children into this hellhole?
