  1. Yes, as you can see from the interview, Japanese people, especially young people, are not very interested in America now. The Japanese who experienced the bubble economy in their 40's and older still have an admiration for the U.S tho. In terms of culture, Western music is rarely ranked on Japanese billboards, and most popular movies are Japanese. And recently, the news in Japan has been broadcasting about the discrimination against Asians in terms of Corona and the shooting deaths of black people, so many Japanese honestly do not have a good image of the U.S. Who would want to go to a country where strangers beat you up just because you are Asian?
