  1. If you’re a sovereign, self-governing nation and the will of the majority doesn’t want the UK politically and constitutionally squatting in their home, then this is their right. If the boot were on the other foot, and Britain were a subordinate lackey to Canada, or Australia or New Zealand, those who bang on about the Commonwealth, wouldn’t be banging on about it quite so much. The days of Britain ‘ruling the waves’ are long, long gone. Britain can’t even control its own southern waters at this point. If majority will (via referendum) decides for New Zealand to be a republic, then that will is carried.
