  1. Europe should really be doing this with illegals who come here. I’m all for supporting/providing safety for genuine refugees fleeing war/persecution, but illegal economic migrants chancing their arm should get the message that if they don’t go through the proper legal channels with the correct documentation they will be arrested and deported.

  2.  @spudspuddy  Disagree. If you’re a genuine refugee (no matter what your religion), you should be accepted and given sanctuary. In the same way, if I were being persecuted or experiencing war, I would expect to be accepted and given refuge somewhere. If you ditch that basic human principle, you ditch your essential humanity.

  8.  @theabrosplay  I think you’ll find everyone has the right to seek and enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution. The 1951 UN Convention relating to the Status of Refugees elaborates upon this right. It provides an international meaning of 'refugee', which is a person in another country at risk of persecution in her, his or their own country.
