Al Jazeera was just telling Netanyahu what he didn’t want to hear, and like a child he puts his fingers in his ears by censoring the channel. If he really thought they were talking crap, he’d have no problem. The fact he shuts them down betrays that he feels they are talking some truth. As Orwell said: ‘If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.’

janetlamb6812 No ‘antisemite’ here, Jan, so take your unfounded libel elsewhere. What’s confusing about this whole situation is that it’s possible to both condemn the Hamas attacks and think Israel has been more than heavy-handed in its response to October 7th. It’s possible to support Palestinian freedom from Israeli state oppression without being antisemitic just as it’s possible to support Israel against Islamist aggression without being anti-Muslim. These 2 things are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Too many folk are either one thing or t’other in this conflict when it’s possible to be both/and.

@smungek Nah, it’s not as simple as that. I watch Al Jazeera quite regularly and it’s not a ‘mouthpiece for Hamas’, IMO. It’s a mouthpiece for ordinary Palestinians caught by a rather heavy-handed Israel following October 7th.
