I’m no natural conspiracy theorist by nature, but there is a school of thought that America essentially lit this particular geopolitical fire by constantly goading Putin since the 2014 CIA/USA-sponsored coup where a pro-Russian democratically-elected government was overthrown and a US proxy installed, and knowing this, and seeing that NATO seems to just stand in the sidelines watching Ukraine burn for as long as possible whilst it in turn weakens and destabilises Russia, the endgame being that NATO/US only entering the conflict at the last minute to administer the final thrust to the severely weakened Russian bull, one can see a certain mileage in this theory: Ukraine sacrificed on the altar of NATO/US ambition against Russia (and in the future, China - over Taiwan - so the theory goes). However, all of this is predicated on the very dangerous idea that Vlad the Mad won’t have let his finger stray too near that red button of which, of course, there is no guarantee.
