  1. I don’t want to trivialise in any way the grave situation in Ukraine right now, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Putin will turn 70 later this year. I don’t know about anyone else but whenever I have a ‘big’ birthday, I tend to go off the rails for a few weeks. Y’know, sleep with the neighbour’s wife, take a few more drugs than normal, think about invading sovereign, self-governing territories. That sort of thing. This could just be one helluva late-life crisis; the last hurrah of someone determined to go down in a blaze of glory with nothing to lose.😳
