In this whole wider immigration debate, there’s a subtle difference between ‘multiculturalism’ and ‘multiethnicism’. I have a problem with the former if it means each separate cultural group living their own lives parallel and separate from the broad main national culture, which I really only see in a cohort of Muslims. However, I have zero issue with multiethnicism. The colour of your skin bothers me not a jot; it’s only your ideas I care about, and the ideas tend to come into play with ‘multiculturalism’ and separate cultures living side by side. I tend to see only a lack of integration in a cohort of Muslims. I don’t see it in Chinese/Indians/Poles/ etc. Another thing I would say is that I have lived for long stretches in several places around the world and in every single one of these places only 3 things was asked of me: speak the language, pay taxes and don’t break the law. Now, obviously, I wasn’t living in these places permanently, but tbh, that’s all I really ask of those who come here. Most do these things and as they produce generations, these generations tend to meld with the whole. It’s only a rump of Muslims who want none of this.

I somehow suspect the key word for the OP is ‘Christian’, not ‘Nigerian’.

@emissary_of_aldebaran How can anyone impose anything if there are literally dozens of ethnic origins and ethnic genetic strains? Moreover, I don’t see Indians/Chinese/Poles etc trying to ‘impose’ anything. I only see it in a cohort of Muslims. Nice try, though.👍

@RittingsTN I think you misunderstand me. I wasn’t condemning all Muslims. I also have Muslim friends/acquaintances and they just get on with their day, by and large, bothering no one. It’s a vocal 5/10% who are clearly here to cause trouble. I would say this, though, given the prevalence of one particular religious demographic in the more recent European immigration stats: If you drop a drip of red dye into a bath full of water it doesn’t show up. If you pour a bucket of red dye into the same bath, it changes it instantly forever. There’s something to be said for gradualism. Here’s a stat I read yesterday which somewhat startled me: by 2050, little more than 2 decades away, Sweden is projected to be 30% Muslim. That means, in yours and my lifetime, a European country is likely to be one third Muslim.

@andyquelch5754 Look at the OP’s thumbnail. ‘Born English’. I suspect he’s one of these people who sees anyone without 100% English genes as not being truly ‘English’. By his logic, Jude Bellingham isn’t English and can’t play for England.
